“No.”

“What if she needs help?”

“Abe is there. He won’t let anything happen to her.”

“But we’re the women in the club. We need to stick together.”

“Yes, that’s why we’ll stay right here. If Karma needs us, we’ll have her back.” I searched for Nova. She shouldn’t see what was going on.

“In the treehouse with Hustler,” Ben said from behind me. I absorbed his warmth and strength into my bones.

“This is the part of MCs I hate,” I muttered.

“I know, baby.”

“It’s why I will never get with a biker.” Piper turned toward me. “I’d end up in jail for murder.”

“You do what’s best for you, baby.” The corner of my lip twitched. “We all have to do what’s best for us.”

The woman got back into her car and drove off the property. Abe and Karma went toward the barn.

“You think she’s going to give him hell?” Piper asked.

“Maybe,” I replied, knowing I sure would if it were me in her shoes. Those hang-around bitches always tried to get their claws into my sons or another woman’s man. Not all were ruthless and conniving. I’d met some decent women over the years, but it didn’t matter. I would never give Ben my seal of approval to have official club girls.

“I think they’re just fine,” Ben said.

“So why are they going to the barn when the party is over here?” Piper asked.

“To have sex,” Ben and I said simultaneously.

“Okay then. Crisis averted, I guess.” Piper went back and rejoined Micah and Brady at the picnic table.

“You okay, Momma? I know you were ready to jump into action.”

I faced Ben. “Nobody messes with my family.”

“We’re all lucky you have our backs.”

“I love my family and do what needs to be done for them.” I took his hand and led him back to the piñata.

I wouldn’t let anyone steal my joy or that of my family. No one would have that kind of power over me. I just hoped no more drama or chaos would crash into our lives for a spell, but I knew better.

“Let’s just enjoy the rest of the day, Ben.”

Hustler

Midnight kept shooting me come-fuck-me eyes from behind the bar. The woman was seriously hot, but we didn’t go there with our employees. It’d been a rule my dad put into place when he opened the casino. We were here to make money, not score tail.

Over the years, many of our female employees clamored for my brothers and my attention. They wanted to take a walk on the wild side—the brutal biker side. When we didn’t give in to them, some started rumors about secret affairs. They were fired on the spot.

Midnight’s shiny black hair had a blue hue, fitting her name. Every day she wore leather pants. She had every color of the rainbow, and they fit her like a second skin.

I threw back a shot, then returned my attention to my laptop to finish the bookkeeping. I liked being the club’s treasurer and manager of Aeros Casino. I enjoyed the business aspect of both.

A weird feeling settled in my stomach the more I stared at Midnight, almost like it was wrong. It’d been happening since I saw Nurse Naughty two days ago, usually when other women were around.
