“If we got married, when would you want to have another baby?” I held my breath.
She swooped her eyes my way. “Another baby? We haven’t even had the first one yet.” She rested her hand on her tummy. “I don’t know, Levi. I need to see how it goes with this one.”
At least she didn’t reject getting married.
“That’s fair. If we only had the one, I’d be okay with it.”
“You would?”
“Yeah, if that’s what you want. Although, two would be perfect.”
“Two kids and a Newfie, huh?”
“Two kids and two Newfies.”
“You don’t ask for much, do you?” She tossed back her head and laughed.
“Nope.”
I drove toward the hangar where I kept my plane.
“The airport?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“I want to show you something.” I felt like a kid at Christmas every time I came here. I loved flying, but I also loved riding my Harley. They were very different, one in the air and the other on the open road.
The one thing planes and hogs had in common was the freedom I felt, flying or riding.
“I’ve never flown on a plane before.”
“Well, baby, that’s gonna change.” I parked the car.
“Not today, I hope.”
“No, but soon.” I got out and went to her side. “This is my personal hangar, where I keep my plane.”
“You have a plane?” Her eyes went wide.
“Yes, I’m a certified pilot. All of us are in my family.”
“I’m shocked, in a good way.”
We entered the building, and my chest tightened. Bringing Hope here meant a lot to me. I didn’t share my love of flying with women. It was too personal and intimate, but I wanted her to see my other passion.
“This black and white beauty is a Piper Cherokee Six. It’s a single engine, seats six people, and has a range of six hundred miles.”
“It’s beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you.” I put my arm around her. “Let me show you the interior.”
“I’d love to see it.”
Hell yes. She was the woman of my dreams.
My fucking phone startled me awake. Hope grumbled and changed positions. I quickly swiped the annoying device off the nightstand to see who dared to disturb our sleep.
