“Yeah. I’ll call Buff.” I took out my phone and dialed. Nothing. “Shit, it went straight to voicemail. Why would it do that?” Images of my brother unconscious with the back of his head blown out and a pool of blood surrounding him appeared in my mind. “Maybe he turned it off.”

“Or it got damaged,” Ire grumbled.

“Damaged how?” My stomach tightened, trying to not think the worst.

“The phone could’ve gotten broken. I’m sure Buff is okay,” Hollywood said assuredly.

“He better be.”

“I’ll call Mason,” Easton said. “If he doesn’t answer, odds are they didn’t make it to safety.”

“Jesus Christ. Could you be any more negative?” I scrubbed my hand down the side of my scruffy cheek.

“Just stating the facts.” Easton put the phone to his ear. “Nothing. Maybe they’re in a dead zone.”

“Yeah, maybe.” The second motel was in a little town a few hours away and near the border of North Dakota.

I kept calling Buff for the next couple of hours with no luck. My leg didn’t stop bouncing, and my armpits were soaked, worried as all get-out for my brother. I didn’t dare call Cobra. Before speaking to my brother, I needed to know how Buff and his crew faired.

“I’ll try my brother again.” Easton used his phone to make the call this time. “Mason, everything okay?”

“Where’s my brother?” I asked, almost panicked.

Easton raised his hand to silence me. “He what? Yeah, I guess I’d do the same thing.” He shook his head, a slight curl to his lips. He never smiled or laughed.

“Do what?” I growled. “What’s going on, goddammit?”

“They made it to the motel. Buff took his girl to the room and told Mason and Maddox to not bother them for two hours.”

“Son of a bitch.” I could breathe easy now and call Cobra with a good update.

Of course, fucking was the first thing Buff did after he had his woman safe and all to himself.

Priorities, right?

“You’ve been a bad, bad girl, Reign. And what happens to bad girls?”

“They get punished?”

“No, Darlin’. They get fucked.” I ground my rock-hard cock against her thigh, burying my fingers in her thick curls. I kissed down her neck, taking my sweet time savoring the moment and inhaling her into my lungs. She didn’t smell as I remembered. The stench of smoke and booze overpowered her natural scent, but I caught a hint of her perfume. It was enough for me.

It had been too fucking long being without her to even care if I smelled Keg’s revolting body odor. Over a thousand days long. Over a million minutes were spent missing and dreaming of her. When we entered the motel room, I kicked the door closed and jumped her like the desperate addict who’d doanythingfor his next fix.

“If I knew better, I’d say stop.” Her hands glided up my arms and wrapped around my back. She hugged me tightly, moving her body sensually against mine.

“That would be a mistake.” I reeled back to stare into her eyes. “Do you hurt anywhere? I’m afraid to touch you with all the bruises on your body.” I shouldn’t even consider having sex with Reign. She needed tenderness and patience. I didn’t know how to be soft. I sure as hell didn’t have a patient bone in my body.

“Don’t be too rough.” She darted her eyes away and bit her bottom lip. I hadn’t forgotten how she liked to be dominated and talked dirty to.

“So that’s a green light to proceed?” I need her consent to continue. Only God knew what she’d been through, and only Reign knew what she could handle.

“Maybe. What happens afterward?” Her finger circled the infinity mark near my eye. Would she ask me about it? She didn’t take her eyes off the tattoo. If she was curious about it, she didn’t reveal anything.

“What do you mean?”
