“Nice,” Georgia said, sliding her hand down to grasp the erection jutting toward her.

He hissed at her touch, closing his eyes, his face reflecting so much pleasure.

She wanted to do dirty things to him. She wanted to drop to her knees and bring him the same pleasure he’d given her. But most of all she wanted him inside her, driving away all the darkness that had invaded... not just the past week, but for the last several months.

Reed pulled her hand away, as if sensing what she needed. The sound of the condom package tearing precluded the sound Georgia made as Reed pulled her atop him, rolled her over, and parted her knees.

“You can be naughty later, my Georgia. Right now, I need this,” he said, sliding inside her.

“Oh, my—” she breathed, her body stretching to surround him, reveling in the fullness. “Oh, so good.”

Then he began to move, his brow screwed in concentration, his eyes closed. Georgia closed her own, her hands sliding up to grasp his shoulders as he made good use of the fresh hay. It didn’t take long until her body tightened again. She lifted her ass and clasped his hips with her knees, riding with him, allowing the wave of pleasure to lift her once again.

And then she crashed again, her body blanketed with intense pleasure. Warm waves washing over her.

“Uhh,” Reed groaned, clasping her hips tighter, pumping into her. Seconds later, he collapsed atop her, panting, dropping little kisses on her sweaty neck.

“Incredible.”

“Yes,” she agreed, wrapping her arms around his waist, trying to catch her breath. She counted off ten sleepy seconds before Reed withdrew and rolled to his side, his breathing still labored.

Straw poked her in the back, but she didn’t move a muscle.

“George,” he murmured, stroking the underside of her breast. “You okay?”

“I’m perfect.”

He lifted himself, propping his chin on his hand before leaning down to brush a kiss across her mouth. “Why aren’t you moving?”

“I feel too good not moving.” She caught his gaze with hers and felt a flash of something in her chest. She didn’t want to feel weird about this, but her heart kept jumping into the mix.

Reed sat up, taking care of the spent condom before pulling an extra quilt over them. Settling beside her, he slid his arm behind her neck.

“Don’t tell me you like to cuddle after sex. If word gets out, Holly Hills ladies will be lined up with casserole dishes.”

He snorted. “Who said anything about snuggling? I want a nap.”

Georgia laughed and closed her eyes. “Good to know you’re not perfect.”

’Cause it was already going to be hard to say goodbye... and the thought of any other woman lying lazily beside him in a postcoital glow made her stomach hurt.

She needed Reed to have some really bad habits so she could stop falling in love with him.

No.

Not that.

Georgia Hightower didn’t fall in love... especially with a man on a ranch in Texas.

Chapter Twelve

“You’ve been spending a lot of time with Reed, huh?” Claire asked, filling her wineglass from the community bottle they shared on the back patio of the Double H ranch house.

“Yeah, I guess,” Georgia said, trying to downplay the fact she’d spent the past several days avoiding anything unpleasant in her life. She hid from reality, making love with Reed instead.

“You guess?” Mary Catherine snorted. “We haven’t seen you since the barbeque.”

“I’ve been busy,” Georgia said, draining the last of her wine and looking around for another bottle. “And y’all have, too. I don’t remember any invitations for us to get together.”
