Grady got a great picture of his new family laughing together and he knew damned well that happiness was shining on his face.

Hannah gave him a puzzled look. “Is that for your friend?”

“Yeah. When we saw you, he dared me to try and get a photo with you and send it to him.”

She laughed. “You didn’t even ask for a photo. I’m glad you didn’t, too.”

“Yeah, so am I. And sending him this one is going to blow his mind.”

He tapped out a text and attached the picture.

Grady: You dared me to try and get a photo. It took me a while.

But I got a whole lot more than a photo. Meet my fiancée.

This is Hannah and her brothers and we’re having a family Christmas.

Maybe next year you can come.

Hannah laughed. “What do you think he’ll make of that?”

Grady shrugged. “We’ll no doubt find out in a minute.”

His phone dinged, and he opened the message and laughed.

Monty: Dude!

He could hear the one word drawn out into three syllables, just like Monty always said it. He could picture the look on his friend’s face, too.

“Do you think he’ll want to come next Christmas?” asked Hannah.

“I don’t know. I doubt it. But I won’t say no.” He dropped a kiss on her lips. “Just because a guy has lived his whole life one way, doesn’t mean that he won’t happily change it all when he meets the right woman.”

She pressed a kiss to his lips. “Are we still talking about Monty?”

“Nah. I’m talking about the luckiest guy in the world.” He brought her hand up to his lips and kissed her ring finger. “I’m talking about me. I thought I never wanted this and yet you’ve made me happier than I thought I could ever be. I love you, Hannah.”

“I love you, too.”

Ava jumped on the sofa and wriggled down to sit between them. “I love you guys, too.”

Grady had to laugh as Scooter piled on top and started licking faces. This was his life now. His family. And it really was the best Christmas ever;
