He thinks I’m doing him a favor but I know he’ll be another three in debt next month and with ten vig on top of that, he’ll be repaying us until doomsday.

That’s where most of the money is. Just let the people be responsible for their own downfall, reap the rewards afterward.

The amount of money the famiglia makes from gamblers borrowing is obscene. I could take the profit just from that and never have to work another day in my life. And that’s only one of our enterprises.

Money makes money. You lend it. You get it back with interest. No one refuses to pay, not when they know what will happen to them if they try to weasel their way out of it.

The music starts up and that’s when I know she’s here. Cathy walks in first, arm in arm with Rocky. I’m jealous of the two of them. Such a simple relationship, theirs is. Shame I can’t have that. But with power comes problems. I have to do things this way. Make her submit to me. It’s in my bones to dominate. I can’t be any other way.

She comes in a minute later, escorted by the mayor. He’s doing it as a favor for me. He’s also in deep but his vice is horse racing. If I looked around at the seating, I’d see more than fifty percent of the guests owe me in one form or another. The rest want a favor sometime soon and are staying on my good side.

My father seems pissed that she’s here. He says nothing, arms folded across his chest.

I don’t look at him when she gets here. I only have eyes for her. She looks so good in that dress, I have to force my feet to remain in place. I want to march up to her and force her to her knees, shove my cock straight in that perfect face of hers, mess up her makeup and her hair, show her she belongs to me.

In front of all these people, I want to bare her ass and show them all what I own, what I’ve claimed. Rip that dress off her to expose her beautiful body.

I don’t do anything. I stand still and watch her as she walks down the aisle toward me.

She looks nervous but happy. That’s enough for me.

When she reaches me, the mayor hands her over with a nod. “Good luck, my dear,” he says before taking his seat with the others.

“You okay?” I whisper.

“I thought it was a bit of paperwork. Who are all these people?”

“Guests.”

She looks around her. “He won an Oscar last year. She’s at number one in the charts right now. How many Senators are here? I recognize at least three of them.”

“They are here to see us get married.”

The priest speaks up. “Dearly beloved. We are gathered here today in this magnificent church, and in the sight of God on high, to witness the union of these two good people.”

He says all the right things. We get to the exchange of vows and that’s the only time Ophelia looks like she might screw things up. All she has to say is, “I do,” but for a brief moment her mouth remains tightly closed.

I hold my breath. She will say it. I know she will. I’m not nervous. I never get nervous.

“I do,” she says at last.

I didn’t know I felt tense until I relax. A weight is off my shoulders. It’s done. I say what I’ve got to say. We exchange the rings, and then it’s pretty much over.

When I get told to kiss her, I make sure it’s a kiss she won’t forget in a hurry. Once I move back from our embrace, she staggers, her face flushed. I can imagine what she’s thinking. She wants me. Makes me feel good.

She leans in just as everyone stands, whispering in my ear. “I’ve got no panties on,” she says as we start to walk down the aisle past the smiling guests.

We get outside and Rocky’s holding the car door open for us. “I’ll drive,” I tell him. “See you in a week.”

I say nothing else until I’m driving. I look across at Ophelia and she’s smiling at me. “So, we’re married,” she says.

“You bad girl,” I tell her, turning left onto a quiet dead end road, bringing the car to a halt.

“What are you doing?” she asks.

“No panties,” I tell her. “Did you think I’d let that go?”

“You told me I couldn’t wear any until after the ceremony.”
