Page 50 of Wolf Awakened

He can't control me anymore. I’m stronger. All I need to do is unlock these damn chains that hinder my life and find the wolf within. Maybe then, I'll finally overpower him at his own fucking game.

That was why I worked so hard. So I could slither around his feet and watch his every move. I knew how he’d gotten this grand scheme of wealth, and not only could I replicate the very path he walked upon, I could do it better.

Become wealthier, gain more influencers, and overpower him as the true leader of the De Lucas.

He believed I was but a hindrance, but I knew he was beginning to see my potential, my hidden strength under this male person I'd perfected over the years. All I needed was the right opportunity, the grand chance to gather a team of loyal comrades who didn't judge me by my human qualities and saw the potential hidden beneath my fragile flesh.

We exited the elevator, reaching the second one and entering without a problem. Viktor pressed the ground floor button, my car probably awaiting the both of us as the valet brought it out from its safe haven.

I leaned against the wall while Victor stood to my left, the two of us quiet until we stopped on the next floor down. I didn't mind added company, already preparing for some of my coworkers to scream or go crazy over riding the elevator with me.

Even with the elite route elevators, we had our share of higher management that had an odd obsession with me.

As long as we don't meet that fainting lady. Ugh.

I pulled out my phone to keep my eyes busy. The doors opened and the vibe that hit me was enough for me to raise my head and meet the stunning eyes of pink.

Pink like my hair pink? Pink fucking eyes. Who the hell has pink eyes? God...those are magnificent.

I was so mesmerized by the eyes alone that I didn't realize I was staring into a man's sparkly orbs. He blinked. His gaze held a hardness to it, no emotions, as he stared back at me.

"Should we wait?" a guard asked hesitantly, his voice actually trembling as though he were afraid of this man. That made me smirk as I took quick surveillance of the three of them before signaling Viktor with my eyes to make space.

He gestured for them to come right in, but the guards took a glance at their clear leader, who nodded just slightly - his focus centered on me.

If you could fall in love with a man just for the clothing he wore, I would have struck the jackpot with this one because he was branded from head to toe. His navy-blue strands were short but styled perfectly to emphasize his professionalism, and the eye-catching LV earring stud was a light pink, like his bubblegum eyes.

I realized his hair actually had tiny bits of highlights, those silky strands also a light pink. It was so uncommon. It seemed like he was a male unicorn in this fast land of boring black, brown, and blonde males that worked in this very complex.

From his oval-shaped face, sharp jaw, the clean-shaven skin, and the way his slightly tanned complexion seemed to shimmer, I knew he took care of his appearance. His calculative eyes were tempting, taking me in as I took him in. The action only took us three seconds and yet it felt like minutes had passed.

He wore a navy blue dress shirt, the silk fabric a part of the latest collection that was aimed for nightly wear. It was matched perfectly with white pants and a belt that had the LV logo in metallic dark blue, while the leather was white with embroidered symbols of the iconic brand.

His shoes were white, even after what seemed to be a long day out, and he sported an exclusive Rolex watch I knew was custom-made.

I kept track of all their watches, including the latest created ones.

He wore a beaded bracelet, one that looked to be a mixture of black tourmaline and amethyst. It caught my attention as he took the lead in walking into the elevator first. He stood next to me while his guards shuffled to stand in front of him, facing the elevator doors.

Viktor had already repositioned himself to stand before me, but the guards’ movement told me that they were trained enough to know how to position themselves in case of an ambush.

Who is this guy?

Deciding to play devil's advocate and probably make Viktor scold me in the car, I further leaned against the wall and purposely checked this man out until he turned his head to give me his utmost attention once more.

Fuck...

The connection thrumming between us alone was fierce, as if static was sparking and begging for us to move closer. I could see the slight discomfort in those pink jewels, though he worked extra to not let it get through to his expression that suddenly seemed to calm as his lips curled to give me a skeptical smirk.

"I thought I was the only one intrigued by Louis Vuitton in this building," I commented with a cocky grin of my own. "New?"

"Visitor." His cutthroat reply was nothing like the way his eyes grew fiercer by the second, taking me in slowly as if he'd close the distance between us and end this thrumming battle of attraction that I'm sure the guards could feel, as well as Viktor.

He's going to nag me, I swear.

"Good to see a man with class," I concluded and shrugged. “It’s one thing when it comes to wearing fine clothes, but another when donning them to suit your vibe.”

"I'll agree with you on that, even though I find our tastes are rather different," he commented with a calm tone while still giving me that perceptive look.
