I could feel the blob of blood beneath my hoody trickling down my flesh, while the last bit of color allowed me to see the mess I'd made of body parts and blood. I prepared for the color to ooze away, for the darkness to creep into my line of vision and steal my sight once more.

It began to do exactly that, but I was suddenly left in a pool of bewilderment as the woman before me remained in view as the rest of the world returned to pitch black once more.

Everything but her was plagued in darkness, while she was glowing with radiance as all the colors of her body remained in place. It was like witnessing a filled page in a coloring book, and it left me in awe while I fought to take it all in.

The emotions of swirling turmoil fought to leave me breathless.

"Why?" I kept my composure, hiding how rattled I was by this predicament, but the word slipped from my lips. The single word could tackle many things, but there were two priorities that begged to be answered.

Why is she the only one I can see?

Why didn't she kill me?

She never answered me as we just stared at one another, but her eyes spoke louder than words. They didn't judge me, like all those who acknowledged my blind situation. They didn't merely focus on me because my disability made her feel more empowered because of her privilege to see.

They looked into me with a desire to learn more. To peer through the hollowness of black and unravel what I hid from the world that had tried plenty of times to destroy me.

She yearned to learn more about me, and the longer I stared into her eyes, the more I came to realize just how similar they were to mine. Not in color, but in the feelings they reflected and the secrets they worked hard to hide.

The weapon that was inched into my flesh suddenly disappeared, and I noticed how her knees buckled at the same time. I caught her out of instinct, as she seemed to lose consciousness, but before I could lower her to the ground, I moved my hand in time to avoid the slice of a blade.

I jumped out of the way as she moved swiftly, and next thing I knew I was avoiding every onslaught of her blade that was moving at a furious pace in an attempt to slice every limb of my body. It was easier to keep up with her movement now that I could literally see her, but my color vision of her was beginning to fade as I watched her rainbow aura tint to a red that was as dark as blood.

"Neo!" The call was followed with Jayce pulling me out of the way in time for the swift punch that would have done more than bruise my cheek. I knew it was him from the blue energy with bits of gold that wrapped around him.

Jayce pushed us off the ground and into the air, and I watched as she looked up slowly and gave a cynical smile while her eyes opened up and I saw that they were tainted with hollows of blood. She looked like a demon, especially with how wide her smile was that showed her glimmering white teeth.

She readied herself to push off the ground, but Saint tackled her to the ground. His energy was blazing white, like an angel descending from the heavens.

I expected it to be over at that, but we watched in pure shock as she literally tossed him like he was nothing while a sinister cackle left her lips and she lifted the wet leaves that were drenched in blood from our earlier altercation into the air before they darted at Saint, who quickly created a shield with his own magic to block himself from the attack.

A gunshot rang through the air, and the bullet seemed to slice through her arm, catching her attention as she spun to look at Dimitris. His energy was always flooded with multiple colors, but the pink with bits of blue always enabled me to identify him without a problem.

I didn't need to see his expression to know that shot was the only warning she'd get. He wasn't going to lose any of us because of this woman who’d gone from sparing me to plotting to destroy us.

We’d triggered something. That had to be it.

The words left my lips before I could stop them.

"Don't kill her! I triggered something!"

That got their attention, as well as hers, as she giggled and hopped in place. Her behavior was absolutely crazy, but I suddenly noticed the blurry aura of pitch black that appeared behind her as she continued to hop.

She spun right on time as the person materialized - his bulky silhouette matching the man from the alleyway at the club who had been close to doing a number on Saint.

She grabbed his approaching wrist but didn't notice his second hand, which stabbed something right into her left upper thigh. She didn't even hiss. Instead, she giggled and licked the side of his face, which looked odd since the guy blended almost perfectly with the rest of the darkness surrounding her.

"Next time I get to play longer," she hissed before the bloody aura began to switch back to the dancing colors of pink, purple, and teal. Her body dropped then like she'd passed out once more and the man caught her before gently lowering her to the ground.

Jayce helped me down, which wasn't really needed, but I accepted it because I was more intrigued by the unconscious woman. Whatever was stabbed into her thigh had a strange liquid inside, one that had magical properties I'd never seen that glowed in a mixture of red and purple.

"What the fuck was that?" Dimitris barked.

Saint whistled. "I'm not going to lie. I was actually scared for a moment there. I didn't want Dimitris killing her."

"Your flimsy bullets wouldn't stop her from killing you," the deep voice declared.

"Hey, bro. Don't try to kill me this time because I didn't answer the question about dancing with your woman," Saint admitted.
