Fuck no.

Due to our uncertainty about what was going to happen next, Onyx and Viktor were my constant security. Apparently, Dimitris had hired some new security guards from California before they had decided to venture into NYC and figured they could be of some use as they learned the ropes around here.

The plan was for me to duke out the remaining three months here, and once I was officially off the hook, I'd get to know all of the deets of the Forbidden pack. I was annoyed with the lack of transparency, but then again, it all came back to the human aspect of my life.

No matter if I was a part of their pack, I was a human and didn't deserve to be updated on what was going on in the shifter world. It sucked balls, but either you cried about it, or you puffed your chest out and proved to them that it didn't bother you.

Even with two weeks going by, the tension in the office was still high, which was leaving me a little too triggered. I'd already told Dimitris that today was a non-negotiable ring night. I hadn't been going because of how busy everything had been since the announcement.

All the workers were scrambling to learn shit that was their job to begin with, and even with them working hard to adapt to the workload I flawlessly carried, someone was at my door every five minutes with a question.

I may have been taking my meds, but there was only a small amount of patience I had before I went a little nuts with energy.

ADHD? Maybe.

As for the four jackasses, I hadn't really gotten to know them. Since I had to be close to work, I was allowed to remain at my penthouse suite. Thankfully, I'd been smart about purchasing it and used my own money versus relying on Roberto.

The idea of him having the ability to snatch away my safe place was what pushed me to invest in the place right when I had enough funds. Viktor had established a new contract and we had special security for whenever I stayed home.

I'd been spending half the week at Onyx's place, which seemed to be the "chill" spot for the others because their main house was in the suburbs, which was thirty minutes from Wall Street, and no one wanted to be stuck in traffic that would extend the drive to a good two hours.

No one’s got time for that shit.

Needless to say, I knew a few details about each of them.

Neo was the most intriguing one out of the bunch. He was very reserved, quiet, and carried a mysterious yet dangerous aura around him. He was blind, but from the bits of explanation Onyx gave me the other day, he could see silhouettes of energy. So auras of the person, which was something wizards and witches could read, were what helped him identify who was who.

Apparently, Onyx had a black aura with bits of silver, which was a little funny because it suited him so well. I wondered what my aura was like, but Onyx had no clue. He also knew that Neo had some crazy special magic that made people basically die from the inside out through some form of liquefied organs.

I honestly wasn’t sure how to even describe it.

He'd used it on me during our encounter, but it hadn't worked, from what Onyx explained. As to why, he wasn't sure, and it looked as though Neo was keeping it a secret. Seeing as I still couldn't recall what happened, I figured the time would come when I'd see it in action for myself.

Jayce was the anger-management type. He liked to get to the point of conversations or not speak at all. He seemed to get along with Viktor, though. It was as if they were on the same wavelength.

Saint was a player. He had all the key vibes of a smooth talker who would get right into your panties if you allowed him. At least he was the most talkative in the group and I could keep a conversation with him. His hobbies were dancing and any other type of cardio activity, like working out or general sports.

He had mentioned he was good at everything but fist-fighting like what I did in the cage on the regular, but Jayce was supposedly a bro at that shit. He didn't compete anymore though, but he knew how to fight. That was all I was able to get out of him before the scowling man interrupted and told me to fuck off.

I laughed and insulted him back, because why the fuck not? I may not have my freedom, but they didn't take my rebellious mouth.

Dimitris was the only one I simply couldn't stand. I thought we'd find some solid ground when I first met him and we seemed to get along or at least respect one another, but he was the biggest dick on the planet.

Every day he'd visit at lunchtime as if I'd run away at any chance I could get when I always had lunch in my office. He claimed it was 'giving me updates' but when he arrived, he'd bob his head, sit at my desk, and be on his phone or tablet doing Sudoku.

FUCKING SUDOKU!

At least if he was doing business, I would have understood, but nope. He played number games while watching me eat the entire time. Today was no different at lunchtime, but he decided to complain about how my tie was slightly crooked, my collar had a wrinkle, one of my strands was out of place, and that I wrote with my right as a male but left as a female.

Overanalyzing asshole.

My mood had already been shot down thanks to the amount of workload I walked into because Roberto was being a dick, but Viktor confirmed he'd just lost another huge contract to, surprisingly, Neo.

The details revealed that Neo had won an investment deal with a huge art gallery, simply because he was some sort of artist or at least well known in the artistic community. He was an automatic approval.

With the latest losing streak Roberto was dealing with, I could only imagine what was happening in the wolf realms. There were only so many losses you could endure before shifters began to grow weary and question whether you could protect them or not.

Losses of deals meant investors would begin to pull out and go to where the source of money was rushing to.
