FAREWELL AND REVEAL THE TRUE VILE QUEEN: PART ONE

~WILLOW~

“Are you coming with us, Willow?”

I swear children were either becoming my weakness or I simply struggled to bid farewell to such a brilliant child.

“Sadly, I can’t come, Malika,” I confessed and tried to hide my nervousness. “I am coming to Faerie, but I need to do something really important or else more bad things will happen here.”

“So you’re gonna be a hero again like how you saved me?!” She beamed with her wide golden eyes as she lifted her arms up in hopes that I’d hug her one more time.

I couldn’t resist.

“I wasn’t exactly a hero last time,” I noted as I scooped her up and hugged her tightly. “I had a lot of help last time, remember?”

“I ended up falling asleep!” She sounded so upset but she hugged me tightly while rubbing her forehead against my shoulder. “But I won’t fall asleep next time! I want to see Willow kick butt again!”

“Now who told you that?” I pondered as I leaned back to watch her giggle mischievously.

“The guy with glasses,” she declared.

“Guy with glasses?” Milo spoke up as he approached us, his body cloaked in golden armor and his hair braided with silky gold ribbon. I needed a moment to admire him as he reached my side and didn’t hesitate to place a hand on my waist.

“Arthur,” I answered as I forced myself to not be so obvious about checking him out.

Men in armor has to be a past life weakness or something.

“How did you know from one quality?” Milo inquired.

“He wears glasses when he wants to tame his crazed appearance,” I revealed like it was something easily noticeable. “That and when he’s nervous. I feel he’d be nervous around children.”

“You have a point there,” he admitted and reached out to ruffle Malika’s curly locks. “Ready to go, Princess?”

“Not with you ruining my hair!” she huffed and wiggled so I’d lower her back down. She huffed and pointed up at Milo. “If you want lovey-dovey time with Willow, leave my hair out of it!”

Milo didn’t seem the least bit embarrassed as the other guards watched from the sidelines. Instead, he moved to wrap his armored arms around my waist, pulling me against him and resting his chin on my left shoulder.

“I do want to be lovey-dovey with Willow,” he boldly declared, which had me blushing in three seconds flat. “Didn’t you hear? I’m courting her.”

Malika gawked in return before she looked at me and lowered her voice as if no one else would hear her. “You’re courting Milo?!”

I slowly nodded as I managed to smile without feeling out of place with us being surrounded by Fae guards.

“Ya. We still need to come to Faerie to officialize it, but we’re a thing now.”

“And you get to be with your other boyfriends?!” she gasped as if I’d done something so spectacular.

“Surprisingly, yes?” I felt even more nervous being open about this, knowing well the type of relationship I was in surely wasn’t fully supported in some parts in Faerie. The Fae may be hypersexual like many other shifters, but some were rather possessive in nature and would never manage to share with another.

Like Roberto not wanting to share Mother with Ruby’s father.

“That’s amazing!” Malika cheered and clapped her hands like I’d won some kind of award. “The kids back at the safe place said they really love who you are, Willow!”

I was surprised by that as Milo seemed intrigued by Malika’s words.

“Oh really?” he commented and watched her nod her head swiftly.

“Mhmm! All the kids were saying how brave, beautiful, and loving Willow is. We don’t get to see the news much because there’s always bad stuff happening, but the news said Willow is such an inspiration to many people in the city, and the kids started talking about how they like how she has more than one boyfriend.”
