“Goaway,Royce.Idon’t want to see you.”
I get a sliver of satisfaction by slamming the door in his face.
He sure did look good.
Like a tall drink of water on a sweltering hot day…
I turn, pressing my body against the door. Royce continues to knock, thumping the wood at my back and I feel his insistence with every blow of his knuckles.
I cover my ears like a little kid, twisting my head back and forth as I try to dislodge the memories he has planted in my mind.

Royce gripping the headboard, his chest coated in a sheen of sweat as he pushed inside me...
In one movement, I turn and open the door wide. He has his hand poised mid-knock.
“Come in. If you must.”
He doesn’t follow me to the couch. Instead, he remains by the door and places his hands on his hips, right below the belt line of his black dress pants.
Why hasn’t he moved closer? Do I stink?
I pretend to scratch my nose on my sleeve, subtly sniffing under my arm. I lift the other one. Turning my head, I produce a fake yawn as I inhale. I’m pleased to report that I’m funk free.
It’s true that I’m no daisy, but I’m fresh... enough.
Body check over, I question my manners. My Southern hospitality dictates that I should offer him a refreshment. I don’t. Royce isn’t a guest. He is an intruder. I only let him in to spare my neighbors. Not to hear what he has to say.
Nope. Not at all.
Ifhe would say something, that is.
“Are you going to talk or just stare at me?”
His eyes darken with lust, and his lips pull into a saucy smirk.
“I’m just going to stare at you, Sin.”
Why does his voice, that damn measured voice of his, practically scream his desire?
“Don’t do that, Royce.”
“Do what, Sin?”
“Say things like that.Lookat me like that.”
He chuckles and I close my eyes, reveling in the sound. When I open them, he’s still in the same spot.
I know what he’s doing. He’s trying to get me to break. It won’t work.
Or will it?
“Look, you’re creeping me out just standing there like that.”
