He is right.

I should tell the kids that, at great expense, and with no help from them, I brought them together.

My plan to do so came to me when Royce and Thomas (that damn player) had yet to have a serious relationship, let alone a steady girlfriend.

I was damn tired of the cronies at my social club, crowing over their grandkids, talking about ‘little Johnny’ did this and ‘little Susie’ did that. When I complained to Jimmy for the millionth time, he told me to get off my ass and do something about it.

So I did. I planned. I schemed. And little by little, I dug up all the dirt on those two grandsons of mine.

Royce had been acting suspect for a while, ever since he came home from New Orleans, moping around like someone stole his dick.

And I was right. Someone had. The formidable Miss Genesis Turner of Dallas.

I found out about her quite by accident.

A competitor of mine had attended the same conference Royce had spoken at. He cornered me later at our club and told me Royce seemed distracted during his speech. He had flubbed lines and stared off into space as if something was bothering him. Boy didn’t take the time to answer questions either. He left the stage as soon as he finished.

My curiosity ran up the charts. I just had to find out what he had gotten up to.

So, I used my connections and my money to uncover the truth.

I learned early on that money will buy a lot of things... and most people.

And I didn’t hesitate to spend it. The perpetuation of the Grayson name was at stake.

From hotel employees, to detectives, then buying STS (although a sound investment, negotiations took too damn long). I set up my man there, Luke Dukate, to get information on Genesis, and make sure things went in the right direction. He enlisted that Melinda to help him. Paid them both the big bucks and gave them a bonus too. Neither will have to work in their lifetimes if they invest wisely.

Then there was Tiffany’s father. Didn’t take much to get him on board, considering I would pay him a hefty price for his database application as well. He even approved of Thomas as a son-in-law.

I wanted Tiffany for Thomas from the get go. I knew she and Royce would get along, no doubt, but she and Thomas were two peas in a pod. Kids were made for each other. He had the calm, and she had the fire. He would help her get over the incident in her past, and she would help him unbend enough to get the stick of privilege out of his ass that his parents placed there from the time he was born.

The light changes, and Jimmy speeds off. With him angry at my stubbornness, we don’t talk the rest of the way home.

In the parking garage, I apologize to Jimmy as he turns off the engine.

“Okay, worrywart. I’m sorry for snapping at you. I’ll tell them everything at Sunday dinner.”

Jimmy smiles, a rare occurrence. “Rob, you’re making the right decision.”

Dear Lord, I hope so.

Sunday comes around sooner than I like. The kids show up together. Apparently, Royce picked up Tiffany and Thomas on the way.

So damn good to see them getting along.

I hated it when Thomas and Royce were on the outs. I hoped that the women I had chosen for them would like each other enough to where they could bring those two boys back together.

That worked out so damn well, I couldn’t believe it. Genesis and Tiffany are like sisters. And now that they are both pregnant, they are inseparable.

Just like Thomas and Royce used to be when they were kids.

And now that they run the group and the foundation as a team, life couldn’t get any grander.

We gather in the main living room, the one where they had told me to stop interfering in their lives.

Soon, in a few minutes in fact, they will find out just how much I had done so.

I start without preamble as the sooner I’m done; the sooner I can eat.
