“Nah, I’m the bestest friend you’ve ever had.”

I sigh, and then a tiny smile lifts the corners of my mouth. “Yeah, you are. God, I hate you.”

August slings an arm around my shoulders and presses a kiss to the top of my head.

“Alright, how about we grab you a beer and hang out on the porch. Maybe you can find yourself someone to get under tonight. Yeah?”

“Pfft, maybe. I’m holding out for Colin, though. He’s my perfect man.”

“He doesn’t even know you exist, Mag. Let’s find you a placeholder instead.”

“Whatever,” I say and see Sem watching me from across the room. “But drinks first. Lots of them.”

“Oh my god, my head,” I groan softly as I stumble into the yoga studio and slap my mat onto the floor. Colin hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m not in the mood for him to notice me today anyway. I’m so hungover from last night I feel like I’m going to pass out. I don’t know what happened or what provoked me, but I drankway too much.

No, actually, Idoknowwhat happened.

“I hate him,” I mutter as August rolls his mat out next to mine.

“Who?”

“Sem. The manipulative bastard.”

August snorts and sits down on the mat and stretches his long legs out in front of him. He looks fantastic despite leaving the party after me, drinking far more than me, and probably fucking away half the night between some girl's legs. His dirty blond hair is combed nicely to the side, and his green eyes actually sparkle. Damn him.

I, on the other hand, look like I just rolled out of bed. All I did was brush my teeth before I staggered to the car.

“I don’t think Sem forced you to down all those shots. That was all you, my friend.”

“Yes, he did. Inadvertently. He was watching me the entire time, August. I couldn’t escape his eyes. They’re always on me, following me around. Drinking was the only way to get through last night without committing murder.”

Hazy visions of last evening assault me as I stretch out my aching muscles.

Sem on the couch, a woman straddling his lap, his tongue plundering her mouth, and his eyes closed. Those long lashes casting shadows on his flushed cheeks.

His eyes snapping open and catching my gaze, letting them slide up my body as I moved on the dance floor.

Licking his tongue up that girl’s neck, those blazing blue eyes on me the entire time.

Me lifting my shirt a little, running my hands across my stomach, teasing him, playing with fire.

His eyes flashing as he grinds up into that girl like he was fucking into me.

It was obscene and uncomfortable.

I hated it.

“Did he also inadvertently make you loudly proclaim to anyone within ten miles that you like big dicks?” August asks, just as the door to the studio opens and Colin strides through.

Perfect, unattainable Colin. With his lithe, trim body, perfectly coiffed hair, and that delectable sleeve of tattoos on his right arm. From my internet sleuthing, I know he’s in his thirties, a history professor at a community college, and part of a book club. He also likes red wine, walks on the beach, and cycling. He’s like a dream come true.

Colin glances over at us, the worddickslingering in the air, and I blush from head to toe.

Gah, of course,nowhe notices me.

I expect Colin to ignore me, but instead, he offers me a small smile and then moves to the front of the room and places his own mat down.
