“Where are we going?” I ask softly, not wanting to wake the angry giant.

“I know a place.”

“Not back to your RV?” I ask, and he shakes his head once.

Fuck, he doesn’t even want me to go back to his place. I wonder, for a moment, if this is the end of whatever this is between us. I wouldn’t blame him if it was.

For some reason, the thought makes me sadder than I expected. Am I actually starting to have feelings for the big guy?

Twenty minutes later, Sem parks the truck at the top of a steep hill overlooking the entire city. It’s stunning, and as I look around, I forget for just a moment that he’s pissed at me.

“How did you find this place?” I ask, craning my neck to the left and right, taking in the city's twinkling lights in the distance.

“Exploring,” he bites out, grabbing the bag of food and jumping down from the truck. I half expect him to slam the door and leave me to make my own way out, but he turns to me and holds out his arm.

I scoot over to the driver’s side, wrapping my legs around his waist and clinging to him as he walks us to the back of the truck and pulls the tailgate down.

“We’re not alone,” I tell him as he sets me on the truck bed. My legs dangle off the end, and I glance to my right and see a van parked nearby. The windows are fogged, and I can only guess what’s going on inside.

“Yeah, people come up here to fuck.”

My eyes widen at that. “For reals?”

“Yep.”

I bite down on my lip and ask, “Have you come up here to fuck?”

For some reason, the thought of him with someone else really irritates me. I’m not sure I want him to answer me truthfully.

“Maybe.”

I stare with narrowed eyes at him as he launches himself up next to me and begins sorting through the food boxes. He eats like this is his last meal. I don’t know how he even consumes so much food. Because it sure as hell doesn’t show anywhere on his body. He’s sculpted.

I reach out and press my hand to his arm, and he stills for a moment before continuing to dig through the bag.

“What’s wrong, Sem?” I ask as he hands me my burger. “Why are you still upset? I know how I acted was wrong. I panicked. I said I was sorry and I really meant it.”

“It’s fine. I’m just hungry.”

I roll my eyes at that because I don’t think that’s it at all. He’s keeping something from me, and I’m determined to figure out what’s really going on.

“So, you’re not still pissed at me for earlier?”

“Nah.”

“So, you weren’t jealous?” I force myself to ask because I want to know.Need to know.

Sem side-eyes me. “Jealous of what?”

“Colin.”

Sem turns to stare at me and then takes a large bite of his hamburger. He doesn’t even swallow it down before speaking. “You can be with whoever you want.”

“Is that so?” I ask and then pop a french fry into my mouth. “Hm, then maybe Ishouldgo on that date with him.”

Sem’s silent and just chews his food, his eyes staring at the city lights in the distance. And the silence is driving me crazy. Usually, we’re bickering or talking. We’re never just quiet.

“For reals, Sem? You really wouldn’t mind?”
