“Oh my god,” I say and try to remove myself from his lap, but Sem’s hands tighten on my hips.

“Don’t you fucking dare,” he mutters, and I shake my head in disbelief.

“Sem, your brother is right outside. He knows we’re in here. We can’t just ignore him to make out.”

“Of course we can.”

“Who the hell are you in there with?” Luke asks loudly, and then I hear the RV begin to rock slightly.

“Um, no, we can’t. He’s feral,” I mutter.

“I’m going to bury him alive,” Sem mutters, and when I try to move off his lap again, Sem holds me against him.

“Sem,” I giggle at how irritated he looks right now. “He’s going to burn this place down if you don’t answer the door. You need to answer it. He’ll crawl right in through the windows if you don’t.”

Sem stares at me for a second and then sighs, “Fine. I’ll get rid of him.”

Luke shouts, “I can hear you, asshole! You can’t get rid of me!”

Sem closes his eyes in annoyance, but a slight smile pulls up the corner of his mouth. It’s obvious that he loves his brother. More than I love mine. It’s rare to have that kind of fondness between siblings.

“This will only take a minute,” he says, and I stare at him because there is no way Luke is leaving in a minute. If I’ve learned anything about the van Beek boys, it’s that they do whatever they want whenever they want.

Sem opens the door, Luke pushes his way inside, and his eyes immediately land on me. He smiles widely.

“I knew it!” Luke shouts and then turns around and punches Sem in the stomach before wrapping his arm around his neck and pulling him down, ruffling his hair.

“Get off me!” Sem grumbles, the two of them wrestling, knocking into things until Luke finally lets Sem go.

The two of them are flushed and breathing heavily, but both wear manic grins on their faces. And for a small second, I wish I had this kind of relationship with my brothers. But I don’t. We’ve never really gotten along. They’ve always seen me as ‘other’ and have gone out of their way to avoid me or make me feel less than. I only ever hear from them through texts, and they never make a point to visit me. Not that I really want them to. They can stay far, far away.

“You guys need a hobby,” I say to both of them, my hands on my hips.

“Seems like my little brother already has one,” Luke says, his eyes sliding up and down my body.

“He’s not a hobby. Don’t fucking look at him,” Sem growls and moves to stand in front of me.

Luke just chuckles and flops down into a chair. “No need to get possessive. I’m just here to collect you both.”

“For what?” Sem grumbles as I peek around his broad body to glance at Luke.

“If you weren’t so busy fucking this guy, you’d have seen the texts I sent you this week.”

Sem reaches behind him and moves me back in place, and I grumble my discontent. He can’t just leash me like this. I’m not a puppy.

I duck under his arm and scurry across the RV to where Luke sits. Luke pats his leg as if to tell me to sit on it, and Sem practically roars as he picks me up and cradles me in his arms.

“Fuck off,” he tells his brother.

I swat at Sem’s arms. “Put me down. We can’t do this around other people.” He has to realize this isn’t normal, that people will think we’re weird. But then again, Sem isn’t really normal, is he? And Luke isn’t either. And, well, what am I? What is normal anyway?

“Like fuck we can’t.”

Luke starts laughing so hard that tears stream down his face. “My little brother acting all possessive over a guy. Who would have thought? Ma is going to die with happiness.”

Sem grunts, shifting me in his arms, and I sigh in resignation. He’s not going to put me down, so I just wrap my legs around his waist and tuck my face into his neck.

“At least sit down,” I tell Sem softly. “Makes it a tad less weird, yeah?”
