“I know you looked,” August says when I blink my eyes open.
“I would never.”
“I have other spots to hide this. It’s our only one. You really want to risk it?”
I eye my boyfriend and then sigh. “Fine. Hide it. I’d have so many regrets dropping it somewhere unsalvageable.”
August places it in my hand and I squeeze it in my palm.
“How do you want me?” he asks.
“You want me to choose? I want you all the ways. Can you decide for me?”
August leans back and slips those pants down his thick thighs and when I’m railing into him moments later, I know for a fact that I’m going to marry this man.
I mean, I’d be an idiot not to. He accepts me just as I am, in this moment.
It was impossible not to fall in love with him.

3 YEARS LATER
EMERY
“You did it,” August beams at me. He pulls me into his strong arms and presses a long kiss to my mouth. The crowd around us shoves and pushes, but I’m safely pressed against him. He’s always kept me close, and I love it.
I love him.
“Never thought I’d graduate, huh?” I smirk.
“No, I knew you would. You’re a genius.”
I lean into him and smile. “Nah. You helped me too. You probably deserve half of this degree, if I’m being honest.”
“I just helped you remember your assignments,” August says and brushes a hand across my jaw. “Everything else was all you.”
I pull my graduation cap off and tuck it under my arm.
“So, what’s the plan now?” I ask as my dad and Lisa make their way over to us. My dad is beaming at me and so is Lisa. Damn, my eyes sting. Never thought I’d be here. Never thought I’d be so happy.
“How about lunch?” My dad asks as he pulls me into a hug. It’s a thing we do now.
I’ve gotten used to it.
Kind of like it too.
“Yeah, we could do that,” I say and then link my hand with August’s, and he presses his lips to my knuckles.
I have plans for the two of us later.
I bought him a little something.
I hope he says yes.
Oh, who am I kidding? I know he will.
