“Of course I know you,” she says with a small laugh. “And yes, we’re both sure. We don’t need two houses and we want you to have it. You deserve it. Thomas was adamant about it, actually.”

Emery looks away and blinks rapidly and damn, I just want to go to him and hold him. I lean against the wall instead and fold my arms across my chest.

“You need any more help packing today?” I ask my mom and she turns her gaze to me and smiles.

“No. My plan is to move in gradually this week so it’s not so overwhelming.”

“It’s the end of an era, huh?” I ask, feeling a little melancholy at the moment.

“Yeah, but I’m so glad a new one is starting.”

My eyes meet Emery’s, and he pops a piece of candy into his mouth.

“Yeah, me too.”

As soon as the garage door shuts––signaling that Thomas and Lisa have gone––Emery is on me, his brown eyes wide as he gnaws nervously on his lip.

“You’re mad. I could see it in your eyes. There was an angry gleam,” he rushes out.

I arch an eyebrow at him and turn away, moving into the kitchen to make something for lunch. I have to focus on something other than the fact that we’re alone in this house.

“I’m not mad.”

“I sat on your lap,” he says, following me. “In front of them. I’m sorry, but I’m not sorry. I mean, maybe I’m a little sorry. Actually, I’m only sorry if you’re mad.”

I open the fridge and look inside without actually seeing anything. My mind is too focused on conjuring up all the things we can do now that we’re alone, and my cock is hardening between my legs.

“It’s fine, Em. Don’t worry. Nothing we can do to change it now.”

And maybe if she has an inkling, it won’t be as difficult for her to process. It will be more ahuhmoment and not a total catastrophe.

“Oh my god, will you just look at me,” he grumbles and then he grabs onto my shoulders and pushes me into the cabinets. My back hits them roughly and I let out a grunt. His eyes meet mine and then they slowly move down to my tented pants.

“Oh,” he says, realization dawning on his face. “Oooh.”

I huff an anxious laugh. “Stop saying that.”

He meets my gaze. “I thought you were mad. But that doesn’t look mad to me.”

“No, not mad, but I would have liked to have a discu––”

“Do not utter thatfuckingword,” he mutters.

“But it’s okay. I just….” I run a hand down my face as Emery’s hands move up under my shirt and my words don’t come out right.

I know I seem like I have it all together, but I don’t. I’m in over my head with him.

“I think she knows….” I manage to say as my skin erupts in goosebumps.

“Then she knows,” he says, leaning into me, pressing his mouth to mine. “Who cares? Isn’t that what we wanted?”

He licks his tongue across my lips and I clutch onto his hips.

“What’s more important is we’re going to have this house all to ourselves,” he says, his hands now moving down to my ass. “Think of all the places we can fuck. I can take you on any surface in this goddamn place, anytime I want.”

“Yes,” I breathe as he grinds up into me.
