I’m sliding off of him and moving toward the bedroom with a singular purpose, but then a rattling at the window has the two of us freezing.

“You have got to be kidding me,” I mutter, glancing at the window and seeing three shapes hovering right outside.

Oh, I know exactly who this is. Of course, they can’t just leave us alone.

I storm to the door and fling it open and see the stunned, guilty looks on Jane and Kate’s faces before turning toward Lex who waggles his fingers at me.

“You three couldn’t help yourselves, could you?” I sigh.

A phone hangs limply in Jane’s hand and she shrugs. “We all wanted to see how everything was going and you weren’t answering the group texts. And since Eliza couldn’t be here…we had to record it. This is a big deal, El. Luke has finally moved in….”

I pinch the bridge of my nose, the plan to fuck Luke on my piano dissipating before my very eyes. But what did I really expect? For peace and quiet?

I’ve obviously lost my mind if I thought I could havethat.

“Well, you might as well come on in then since I know you won’t leave until you do. I know Luke wants to gossip with you guys.”

They look at each other and then scramble out of the bushes and make their way to the front door.

Luke catches my eye and smiles but I refuse to make light of this.

A small laugh erupts from my mouth, but I swallow it down before anyone could hear it.

“Heard that,” Luke whispers.

I glower in his general direction.

“You’re hearing things.”

“You’re happy they’re here,” he tells me softly. “You can eat my dick later, yeah? Let’s just hang with them for a bit. Family first, yeah, Eli?”

I nod and slide my fingers through his.

And fuck, if seeing everyone in my kitchen talking loudly doesn’t make my heart swell just a little in my chest.

Who would have thought that I’d end up here?

Not me, that’s who.

EPILOGUE

1 YEAR LATER

LUKE

We’ve been together for a year and I’m getting antsy because the wedding I’ve planned in great detail in my head isn’t happening. Not yet at least. No, Elliot dodges the question every time I bring it up, almost like he doesn’t want to marry me.

But that can’t be right, because he’s all over me the minute we’re alone. And even most of the time when we’re not. That asshole can’t keep his hands off of me. So, he has to want to make this official, right? Because when I brought up marriage, he didn’t outright tell me ‘no’.

I’m going with it. This asshole and I are forever.

Elliot steps through the door looking like sex after a long day at work. He’s unbuttoning his shirt as he walks into the kitchen where I’m cooking dinner, and I salivate just a little thinking about him naked.

My dick is already ready to go.

“Hey there, Doc,” I say, watching as he moves in right beside me and nuzzles me with his cheek. I lean down a bit and press my lips to the crown of his head. He shifts even closer, and I tilt his face up, kissing him deeply until he’s groaning against me.

When we finally pull apart, I’m breathing heavily, and Elliot’s hair is mussed.
