“No shit?” my dad says, moving to a cabinet on the wall and pulling down a box.

He rolls a joint as Theo prattles on and then lights up, more smoke wafting around the space.

“Tell me more about this, Theo,” he says between puffs.

We all relax as Theo rambles on and on about cannabis and its effects on free-range farming and then goes on to talk about which vegetables will grow well with cannabis. How the fuck does he know all of this? What do vegetables have to do with chemistry?

And why does my dad pretend like he knows what Theo is talking about? Theo is using big words that I’m pretty sure my dad has never heard before. He’s just faking it right now.

Asshole. All a bunch of fakers.

But I don’t dwell on it too much because we’re all high as fuck with not a care in the world. As proven by my hand, which is still up Theo’s shirt, and I wonder for a minute if I can stick it down his pants. Would anyone really notice? Would they even care?

“Hey, where’s mom?” Landon asks and my dad shrugs. Both of Finn’s hands are up Landon’s shirt now and no one is saying a word.

Jesus Christ.

Always trying to one-up me.

“Dunno,” my dad says, inhaling deeply and letting out a long, exasperated exhale. “She was pissed at me. Told me not to micromanage her potatoes.”

He starts to sniffle a little and swipes at his eyes. He gets very emotional when he’s high.

Theo glances at me. “You all cry a lot for such manly men…and you’re allextremely hot. What is up with that?”

My dad puffs up at that and Landon grins widely.

“We may have the family curse, but we also have the best genetics, am I right?” my dad says, and Landon and I mutter our agreement. Because, yeah, it’s true.

“But I’m the hottest, right?” I whisper and Theo eyeballs me, then slides his gaze to Landon, Finn, and then my dad.

Hell, I’d rather he wasn’t so honest. He’s hurting my feelings. I should be first pick.

“I’d say they’ve given you a run for your money,” Theo replies and I pinch his hip a little.

He just grinds his ass down around on my lap and I bite back a low moan.

He turns his head a little and his warm breath hits my ear. “But you’re the only one I want, Logan.”

Oh, hell. That does it.

I’m about to break all the rules right now, but I don’t get a chance, because Mom suddenly shows up in the doorway, a frown on her face.

“Boys,” she reprimands and we all groan, because we know we’re in trouble. We should have invited her.

“You seriously left me to finish up inside to come smoke with them?” she says, her eyes homing in on my dad sprawled out on the floor.

My dad looks a little bashful and shrugs. “You were getting mad. It was self-preservation.”

My mom rolls her eyes and sets her hands on her hips.

“Basil Lewis, get your ass inside and help me finish dinner.”

My dad scrambles to his feet and Theo chuckles quietly.

“He’s named after an herb.”

“Hell yeah, he is,” I say as my dad disappears and my mom eyes us. She takes in Theo sitting on my lap and doesn’t even blink an eye.
