“Fine.”

I press my hand to his face, and he lets me.

“Still warm,” I say, moving into his kitchen. “I brought some tea. It has antioxidants and shit.”

“I hate tea,” he mutters, but I ignore him, searching through the cabinets for a kettle. When I don’t find one, I opt to microwave some water instead.

“Alright, now it’s shower time,” I say and pull out a bottle of eucalyptus oil.

Theo’s eyebrows meet as he stares at the bottle in my hand. “What the hell is that?”

“Some fancy oil. Read about it online. It’s supposed to help with your illness.”

“I’m not sick,” he says, and I just roll my eyes and make my way over to the bathroom. It’s small and cluttered with a narrow shower, a small sink, and a toilet.

I uncap the bottle and try and dribble a little on the wall but end up spilling half of it instead. As soon as the warm water hits it, the entire bathroom smells like leaves.

Shit, that’s strong. My nose burns.

Theo stares at me from the entrance.

“Myentireapartment smells like a giant Altoid.”

“Just think about koala bears. Pretend you’re a koala bear if you need to. Be one with the eucalyptus forest. Just don’t lick the shower wall.”

He just stares at me in disbelief. Yeah, man, I don’t know, it made more sense in my head.

“Strip,” I tell him, and he shakes his head.

“No.”

I narrow my eyes at him and then push the blanket off his shoulders and wad it up in my arms. He doesn’t let go of it without a fight, and I end up cradling it in my arms so tightly he can’t wrench it from me. He may be as tall as me, but I have more muscles.

“Get in, wash, and then get out, and you can have your fucking tea,” I say, my lungs burning.

I can hear him muttering curses from behind the door as I stomp over to the microwave, tossing the blanket on the bed on my way.

When he reemerges ten minutes later, all wet and freshly clean, I’m holding a cup of tea out for him.

“I almost died in there,” he grumbles.

“You’re rejuvenated,” I counter.

“My eyes are bleeding.”

“Don’t be so dramatic,” I scoff, shoving the mug in his hands. This one has another weird chemistry pun on it that I don’t understand. Maybe one day he’ll explain it to me.

Theo blows on it and meets my stare.

“You can thank me later,” I tell him, and he continues to eye me.

“How many free sessions of tutoring do you want for this? Is that why you’re here? Do you want out of our original agreement so badly that you’re now playing caretaker?”

I huff out a laugh and fold my arms across my chest. This guy is unbelievable.

“I’m here because I’m a nice guy. I’ll still suck your dick for those sessions. Don’t worry.”

“No,” he says with a shake of his head. “It doesn’t feel right. Not with you being all…nice.” He shudders a little. “Let me think about how many free sessions you’ll get.”
