“Hey, Logan,” a sweet voice says to my right, interrupting my conversation with Theo. “Where have you been?”

I look up and smile. “Oh hey, Kierra. Been a while.”

“Sure has,” she says seductively and tilts a little farther down so I can get a good look at her tits.

“You want to hang out after this?”

“Nah, babe, can’t. Got school stuff,” I say, and she pouts and then walks away, looking over her shoulder at me. When she catches me looking, she beams and winks.

“Do you remember all of their names?” Theo asks suddenly, and I glance over at him.

“Yeah. I have a thing for names. I don’t easily forget them.”

“Bet that makes them feel special,” he mutters as the waitress appears with our drinks, and Theo wastes no time in throwing his shot back and asking for another.

“Damn,” I say. “You may want to slow down. We have to study after this.”

Theo rolls his lips between his teeth and taps his fingers on the tabletop. He looks agitated, his jaw working back and forth as his gaze roves over the people surrounding us.

“Hey, man!” Damon, one of my teammates, shouts, stumbling toward me and falling into my lap. He wraps his large arms around my shoulders and presses a sloppy kiss to my temple.

“You were so fucking good today. Kicked ass,” he slurs, ruffling my hair.

I chuckle and shove at him because, damn, he’s heavy, and my legs are falling asleep under his weight. But he just clings on like the asshole he is, and shit, why the fuck is Theo standing up?

“I’m leaving,” Theo mutters, and I just gape as he quickly retreats from the table.

Why the fuck is he leaving? He said one drink. I mean, technically, he had his, but I haven’t even had a sip of mine.

I shove Damon off of me, and he lands on his ass, but there’s no time to care about the state of his butt because Theo is walking out the door, and I’m jogging after him. I follow him a little too closely, and my toes accidentally hit the heel of his shoe, giving him a flat tire.

“Hey, Theo, what the hell, man? Where are you going?”

“Home,” he says, bending down, fixing his shoe, and then continuing his walk down the sidewalk. “I told you; I have things I need to do.”

“Come on. Come back in.”

“No. Go back to your friends. I don’t belong there. You have your adoring fans to keep you company. You don’t need me there.”

I run a hand along the back of my neck. “Yeah, sorry about that. I don’t want to be rude, you know?”

“Logan,” he says, stopping abruptly and facing me. “Just leave me alone.”

I sigh heavily and then dig my keys out of my pocket. “Alright, let’s go.”

“No. I’ll walk.”

“Nah, Theo. Come on. We can go. I should probably study anyway. The C on my test improved my grade, but I still need major help if I want to pass the class.”

Theo eyes me and then lets out an aggravated sigh.

“I don’twantyou to come home with me right now. Do I need to spell it out for you? Go the fuck back to your friends.”

My eyebrows meet because why is he so angry with me? I haven’t done anything wrong.

He starts to walk away, and I watch him for a bit and then jog up toward him again.

“Jesus Christ,” he mutters. “Are you dumb? Is that it?”
