Page 95 of Until Him

I shake my head quickly. “Logan,” I begin to protest.

“Do you have other plans?” he asks, cutting me off. “Because I’m pretty sure you don’t have any other plans.”

I shake my head again and Logan sits down next to me, reaching into the bag and pulling out what looks like a square donut covered in powdered sugar.

White powder sprinkles across his dark pants and over mine as he tries to hand it to me.

“Well, then you’re coming with me. I already told my mom and dad. And we can come back here on Sunday to see your dad.”

I gape at him and when I don’t take the beignet, he presses it into my mouth, forcing me to take a bite.

As the greasy sugar coats my tongue, I groan.

Damn, that’s good. Where did he get these and why have I gone my entire life without them?

“Good, right?” he asks and then slowly feeds me the rest of it, eyeing my mouth the entire time, like he wants to be the one inside of it.

When I swallow my last bite, he kisses the powdered sugar off of my lips.

“You taste good,” he says.

“The beignets taste good,” I counter, but Logan isn’t listening. He’s just kissing his way down my neck, biting my oversensitive skin.

“I’ll go with you. To your parents. If you really don’t mind.”

Logan grunts, his teeth scraping against my jaw. “I knew you’d change your mind. I know you don’t want to be away from this for too long.”

He’s right. I’d miss him.

“My parents are going to be so happy to have you,” he says, pulling me onto his lap and rubbing circles against my back.

I blink at him and then turn my head so I’m resting my cheek on his shoulder. The truth is, I would have spent the holiday alone, eating cranberry jelly from a can and watching reruns ofThe Twilight Zone.

It doesn’t get more depressing than that.

“You can bring Curie too. My dad loves animals.”

Of course he does, he named his chickens. He even cried a little when he gave us the eggs. He probably names his vegetables too. His family is the reason Logan is who he is. He’s fucking amazing.

I’m desperately trying to shield my heart and here he is pushing his way past all my defenses.

“Okay.”

Logan bites down on my ear and sighs contentedly against me.

“It’s a mini-vacay. This is getting serious, Theo.”

I roll my eyes at how ridiculous he is, but my heart secretly thunders in my chest.

He presses a kiss to the back of my neck. “It’s going to be so fun.”

LOGAN

“Areyou sure you want me to go?” Theo asks, shifting from one foot to the other in the middle of his apartment and looking so unsure. He’s wearing jeans that look brand new and an oversized green sweater, and his hair is combed nicely. He looks hella good today.

I grab onto his duffle bag and Curie’s cat carrier and nod.
