“We still bad boys chick, just ain’t doing illegal shit anymore.”

“But not all your coalition is clean?” I asked, wanting to understand.

“You know what a coalition means in an MC?” Inglorious asked. I shook my head. “With us, seven clubs banded together to keep this part of South Dakota clean and under our control. Yeah, crime still sneaks in, drugs, booze, arms, but we try to shut it down. We know a couple of our coalition ain’t clean, but they got good men in them, and we are waiting for them to break free of the filth infecting them.

When they break free, we’ll be there to help them along. We won’t interfere in getting them clean; it ain’t our job to do so. And it would be a grave insult to suggest we think they can’t do it without our help. But it means that if one club calls, then we ride, every one of us. So when Clio was taken, Big Al put a call out and every brother in the coalition rode. We tracked Clio quicker than the cops and brought her back to Chance. See, the fucker who took her didn’t understand a couple of things,” Inglorious said.

“What?” I asked, curious despite myself.

“One he was fucking with Hellfire, two, he took an old lady, worse he stole a President’s woman. Three, Chance had more than Hellfire at his back, bikes flooded the road, and he underestimated Chance, thought Chance was just another rowdy biker on the take. Chance ain’t. Man has power and used it to call allies,” Inglorious explained.

“I see,” I said, chewing on that information. So much to think about, but I was picking up a strong sense of pride and loyalty. While not related to each other, these clubs held each other in high esteem and would ride, as Inglorious put it, if someone needed help.

“Come on, chick, tell me where you’re staying, and I’ll meet you there. And then we’ll plot to appease Clio,” Inglorious grinned.

“Why are you so bothered?” I asked.

“Because I pulled Clio from a moving car and saved her life. Clio’s special to the Unwanted Bastards as we shed blood for her. Get your ass moving, woman, and when you’ve showered, I’ll explain in more detail,” Inglorious chided. With a cheeky grin at him, I set off at a fast pace, throwing the hotel’s name over my shoulder.
