“Well, well, well, boys. Look who we have here, Miss Shake her Hips,” Marty crowed. His friends filed in behind him and smirked in my direction. Shit, this was trouble.

“Get out. You’re breaking and entering,” I said firmly, hiding the fear in my voice.

“Gonna be doing a lot more than that, baby,” Leo sneered, focusing on me. I felt his intentions and shuddered. Fuck this; I moved forward and yanked the shotgun out. Fearfully aiming it in their direction, I noticed its heavy weight settle on my shoulder. Marty and Leo’s friends lost their bluster, and even Marty paled somewhat. Leo laughed.

“Ain’t ever held a gun before, have you, babe? See, you got to take the safety off and cock it, bitch,” Leo informed me. I didn’t move, unsure if he was lying.

“Returned to steal that fuck’s cash and smash the place up. Didn’t expect to find you here. Guess we’ll be teaching that asshole several lessons tonight, starting with fucking his girl.” Marty grinned, confidence returning. A chill settled in my stomach at the intent on their faces.

“No way are you laying a hand on me. You come near me, I’ll shoot,” I warned.

“Don’t need your permission to fuck you. Can’t fight four of us off.” Leo smirked. The other three laughed behind him.

“I will shoot you!”

“Not with the safety on, you stupid bitch,” Leo responded.

“Yeah motherfucker, my safety ain’t on. Move one more step, and I’ll blow your brains out,” a voice spoke behind them, and Pyro entered. His arms were extended in a firing position, and he held a handgun on them. Pyro pushed around them after booting the door shut and moved steadily towards me. Marty and his friends looked unsure of themselves, especially faced with a guy who understood how to shoot a gun.

“Bunny, when I reach you, I want you to hand me the shotgun and take my weapon. Anybody moves, I’ll be taking that as a threat and will fire. Am I clear?” Pyro demanded as he slid into place. “Now.” I dropped the shotgun into Pyro’s hands, grabbed his gun, and held it on the four terrified guys. Pyro flicked something on the shotgun and shouldered it.

“Lio, need your eta, got some assholes here,” Pyro said, and I looked for another person.

“Twenty minutes. Ramirez is closer and is heading in your direction. He’ll be ten minutes,” a voice replied.

“Bunny, my phone is in my cut pocket. Can you pull it out and lay it on the bar?” Pyro asked, and I lowered his weapon and moved towards him. Marty made a move, and Pyro cocked the shotgun and aimed.

“Don’t move, fucker. You’ll be serving time for breaking and entering and intent to vandalise and theft. Let’s not speak of the threat of rape. Move, and I’ll take that as an attack and a threat against Bunny and me. You won’t be doing time; you’ll be six feet under. Stay exactly where you are,” Pyro warned. The four men stood stock still as Pyro moved the shotgun between them.

“I hit the panic button,” I whispered to Pyro.

“Good girl. Bunny, I want you to lay my weapon on the bar and step behind me.” I obeyed and hid behind Pyro. Minutes ticked past, and then the doors blew open, and a six-foot-eight giant entered with a bellow that turned my blood cold.

Chapter Three.

“Magic! Stand down! The cops are minutes out,” Pyro yelled as Magic moved towards the four pricks. They looked terrified now and huddled together. Magic snatched Marty with one hand and held him two feet off the floor.

“Break into my bar!” Magic roared, and I cringed. Shit, I’d seen Magic angry, grumpy, and annoyed, yes, but never full-blown anger, and it was scary. Worried, I grabbed Pyro’s cut without realising it, and Magic turned a horrifying face to Pyro.

“Assholes broke in.”

“They did more, but Lio’s on the phone, and the cops are minutes out.” Magic dropped Marty to the floor, who gasped for air, and Magic’s eyes narrowed.

“Where the fuck is Bunny?” Magic growled, and everyone could hear the threat of death in his voice.

“Here!” I squeaked and popped out behind Pyro. Magic moved far swifter than his bulk suggested, and moments later, I was in his arms. I began shaking, and Magic held me tight.

“Got ya, Bunny girl. Calm down now. Pyro and I won’t let them touch you,” Magic said reassuringly, stroking my back.

“Pyro, Ramirez is on the scene. Do not fire. He’ll announce himself,” Lio mentioned on the phone. Magic sent it a dirty stare as the door flew open again.

“Police! Detective Ramirez entering,” an officer called, and I shuddered against Magic.

“Coast is clear, Ramirez, come in,” Pyro returned, and a tall Mexican man entered. He held his gun the same way Pyro had when he’d arrived at the bar.

“On the floor now,” Ramirez ordered, and the four men dropped. “Pyro, cover me while I cuff them.”

“Got it,” Pyro confirmed as I watched from Magic’s arms. The big guy hadn’t let go of me yet, and I didn’t want Magic to. Ramirez cuffed two of the guys and zip tied the others. Once Ramirez was satisfied they were hogtied, he stood up.
