Page 12 of Loving Rush

I clenched my teeth together to keep from lifting her into my arms and kissing her until we were both breathless. “Not at you, exactly. The helmet is big on you, so you’ll have to hold onto me tight.” Even with half her face covered I could see her blush.

My cock twinged. I swallowed hard. How my day had taken a turn. I’d gone from pissed about Clint to meeting this woman. It felt good though. Right, somehow. Maybe I’d banged my head like Clint.

I shrugged off my jacket and handed it over. "Put this on," I ordered.

She hefted it and slid her arm in one sleeve and then the other. It drowned her and yet she looked sexy as hell.

"Let me zip it so it'll stay on."

She watched as I fiddled with the zipper, a shiver of … I didn't know what the fuck my problem was. Like I was an addict, and she was my drug of choice. I didn't know I wanted her until her scent was in my nose. When I got it, I zipped it up to her neck, covering her and she pulled on the leather, holding in a small shiver that I wished I understood. I zipped it up to her neck, covering her pale lemon shirt. “Here.” Not too delicately, I slotted my hands into the slender curve of her waist and planted her up on the seat. “Just push your thighs around my hips and hold on around my waist, I promise I won’t go too fast.”

A semi hard on pushed against the zipper of my jeans at the thought of her pressing against me. I was officially losing my mind. Although that was nothing compared to the raging hard on that sprung to life once I felt her body settle around me.

Thank the gods above she was resting against my back. Otherwise she might have run away screaming at the raging pervert trying to take her out to lunch. As it was, she was too fucking trusting. She didn’t know me and yet she was going to ride with me. I couldn’t help but wonder if that was something to do with that shadow of pain in her eyes. Or something else. But it fucking caused my protective instinct to kick into overdrive. Nothing would happen to this woman as long as I was alive.

Shaking my head at my errant thoughts I fired the engine, letting the vibrations rush over me and relishing the tightening of her thighs and the squeeze of her arms.

I turned and looked over my shoulder. “I can’t go for a ride with you without knowing your name.” I bit down on my grin.

“Lux!” she shouted over the roar of the engine. “I’m Lux. Well, I mean, my full name is Mallory Luxor Briggs, but I go by Lux." She smiled nervously.

"Nice to meet you, Lux. Hang on tight," I said, and took off.

I'd been riding since before I had my license. Motorcycles were my life. Hell, I loved working with bikes, riding them, painting them, building them more than I'd ever loved a woman. But as I rode through town, I felt my heart shift. It freaked me the fuck out because what the hell? By the time we pulled up outside the restaurant I'd chosen, I'd decided I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could for as long as she'd let me.

I slid off my Harley first and then reached for her, lowering her to the ground. "Careful," I said.

Her beautiful eyes met mine as she put out her hand. "Thank you," she said, her voice slightly shaky.

"You okay?" I wrapped an arm around her waist to ensure she was steady. And the way she looked at me? I wanted to taste her. Suckle her bottom lip into my mouth.

She wobbled for a moment and then straightened. "I'm better than okay," she said, giving me a breathtaking smile. "That was the most fun I've ever had." She shoved her hands into the pockets of my jacket. "But my thighs are going to kill me tomorrow,” she added.

“Your thighs! I think you bruised my hips!” I was joking. She hadn't bruised anything, but I enjoyed teasing her.

Her laugh echoed from the inside of the helmet. It had a magical edge to it that made my chest tighten. "Sorry, not sorry," she said.

I laughed with her as an eager sense of freedom caused my heart to clench.

She tried to pull off the helmet but forgot the catch under her chin. "It's stuck."

I moved closer, ducking to see the catch, my body curving a little to fit around hers. “Here, let me.” Swiftly I flipped the catch and eased the helmet off. Static caused some of her golden hair to stand on end. Automatically, I smoothed it with my palms. “How was it?”

“What?” she asked, a whispered edge to her voice.

“Your first time?” Her starlit gaze flickered to mine.

“Not bad.” She grinned and turned to the restaurant. “How did you know?” she asked, her sass returning.

Was she talking about the ride or something else? I couldn't believe she was a virgin, but it was possible. Unless … I followed her gaze. She was staring at the sign for the Chinese buffet.

I adjusted my cock and decided that was what she meant. “Oh, the restaurant. Well, everyone loves an all you can eat buffet.”

“True.” She inclined her head. Some sunlight hit her hair and my heart stopped. She was painfully beautiful.

“And you said you liked to eat things that you might not make at home. I don’t know how your home cooked Pho tastes, but mine is pretty lame compared to restaurant quality.”

She laughed again. "Same."
