Page 49 of Loving Rush

We cleanedup in the bathroom near the office. I put my undies and skirt back on and then eased into the office chair.

"Don't you want to be done for the night? I should probably run you home."

I was feeling a little weak, but there were a few more folders I wanted to go through. "Yes, but give me a few more minutes?"

His face softened. "I'll take a shower and then be right back." Rush caressed my face.

It was like he always needed to be touching me, and I loved every second of it.

I needed a shower too but could do that at home. It was essential to ensure I had a full accounting of all Clint had done. "Sounds good," I said, leaning into his hand. "I'll go through this folder, but we should be finished in a few days."

He nodded, and a shadow passed over his face. I knew he didn't relish talking to Clint about what might have been going on. I think Rush wanted it to be a legitimate mistake, and I wanted that for him, too, although I sure as hell didn't want Clint to come and claim his job back. He would run Rush's business into the ground, and I would not let that happen if I could help it.

With a peck on my lips, Rush left me to clear to my work. I'd kept a careful ledger of everything we'd found, and I leaned over and clicked the mouse to double-check I'd saved it.

Once I verified, I opened the folder. Frustratingly there was still a load of unorganized papers. Still, I supposed it showed that Rush had a successful business. He'd had a steady increase in customers and a growth in returning customers over the last two years. I'd plotted it all on a spreadsheet for him so he could see the development of the business. It was a shame that the financial records didn't match the trade he'd done.

The folder I went through was the same as the others, and I made quick work of it. Then glanced at the shelf on the far wall. I hadn't given that a proper organization yet since the desk and cabinets had been enough to manage. But a holiday brochure caught my eye. Covered in dust, it was wedged in the corner. I grabbed it down, showering myself in filth.

Nice. Key West. Not that I'd been,I thought.Idly I flipped through the pages, only stopping when I found a printed legal document. It was a leasehold to a condo in Key West.

Without thinking, I ran up the stairs to Rush's apartment. I'd been up here a few times after work when we'd spent time together.

Rush gasped at my speedy entrance, and I stopped in my tracks. The man was glorious. He was in just a towel, his skin a mirage of muscles and ink to my thirsty eyes. I would never get enough.

"I'm so sorry," I gasped. Fuck, he was beautiful. His wet hair hung to his shoulders, and droplets of water ran across his smooth skin. My legs felt weak, but I was ready to go another round.

"Everything okay?" He used a different towel to rough dry his hair and then tossed it onto one of the stools at the kitchen counter.

I was not okay. In fact, I was having an out-of-body experience. "Do, do, you own a place in Key West?" I finally asked, gasping like a fish out of water. I waved the brochure, obscuring some of his beauty from my sight.

"Not that I know of." He eyed me shrewdly. "Do I?" He frowned, not that it detracted from how he looked. I needed him to put some clothes on before I attacked him.

I swallowed, squeezing my thighs together. "I found this." I handed over the paperwork, stepping closer so now the shower-fresh smell of soap and warm water filled my senses. He frowned as he read over the document, his body stiff. I wanted to reach out to touch him, but I held back.

"Where was it?"

"On the shelf in the office. I only noticed it because I was assessing what bit I'd tackle next."

His frown deepened. "I don't understand this. That's my business's bank account information." He pointed to the numbers on the document.

"But it's in the name of Donovan Henley. Who is he?" I sensed his stress level rising, and mine did the same.

"I have no idea." He shook his head, scattering a few droplets of water on me. "Sorry, I should get dressed."

He really didn't have to. I could have looked at him all night. An eagle spread over his left shoulder, beautifully done, ink feather-light and intricate. Without thinking, my fingers reached out and grazed over the design. "This is beautiful."

The air crackled a little as he met my gaze.

"Rush, I…"

He stepped back, putting space between us. "I'll throw some clothes on, and then we can make some calls. It's late, so if you want to go…" He let his voice trail off and frowned at the brochure with the confidential document inside. "Ugh," he growled, moving away.

"Do you want me to stay?" I gulped, wishing I would've showered with him.

"More than anything," he said, though his back was still to me.

I wasn't going anywhere unless he told me to leave. "I'll stay," I said quietly.
