With or without all of this going on, Kincaid was unpredictable. I wanted to trust that she was in a better head space, but I couldn’t. Kincaid was notorious for her angry disposition, so there was no guarantee that she wouldn’t just run out and kill them all after telling her what I just learned.

“Okay, here’s what we’re going to do,” I told him. “This second, I am going to drive you to the airport, and we are going to book you a flight to go see my father. He will have the current governing panel with him, and you are going to confess every-single-fucking-thing, Alexander.”

“But-”

“Or I will kill you where you stand,” I finished. “You can forget about Kincaid or Merrick coming after you. I will kill you, leave your body here to rot, then make my way over to Jacob’s before letting Kincaid finish off Donovan Copper.”

His face paled. “You’re just as crazy as she is,” he rushed out, scandalized by my threat. “Do you honestly think you can get away with killing me?”

I laughed at that. “Do you honestly think I give a fuck?” I shook my head condescendingly. “I will gladly kill all three of you fucks and spend the rest of my life in prison if it gets Kincaid the peace she needs and the justice her parents deserve. That’s how much I love her, you stupid prick.”

Alexander threw his hands up in surrender. “Okay, okay, okay,” he replied in a panic. “I’ll…I’ll go with you.”

“I thought that you might,” I deadpanned.

Three hours later, Alexander was on a plane to go meet my father. My dad was expecting him, and all the wheels were in motion to finally get Apollo Black the justice that he’s been denied all these years. It was finally time to set Kincaid fucking free.

When Saxton had picked me up from the airport, I had filled him in on all that Alexander had confessed, and he had quickly agreed with me that, for all of her turning-over-a-new-leaf, there was no way to predict how Kincaid would react to finding out it was Donald Remington who helped cover up her brother’s death.

I probably should have just killed him.
