Fox grabbed my arm and spun me around to face him. “Our what?”

“Our prenup,” I repeated. “It’s my statement that I don’t want anything from you in the event of a divorce. All I want is what I brought into the marriage before our vows. You can have your last name back and anything else that we accumulate during our marriage.”

“Kincaid, honey-”

Ignoring my mother, Fox lit the entire place up. “Are you fucking kidding me?” he practically roared, then looked over at the priest. “My apologies, Father, but shit’s about to get ugly in here.”

The priest wisely kept his mouth shut as Walter Harrington spoke up. “It’s not a bad idea, son.”

Fox turned towards him before his eyes started scanning everyone in the church, his anger directed at our parents more than anything. “What the fuck don’t you people understand?” I watched as Stone pulled Rylee closer to him, Saxton and Ross doing the same with Hastings and Sutton. “Whatever you think is going on here, you’re wrong.” He looked over at his dad. “I have pledged my loyalty to The Order, and I have every intention of keeping my word. However, my priority is Kincaid. It will always be Kincaid. I will forfeit my life for my wife, and I don’t care if you understand or approve of that or not. You think I give a fuck about a prenup? Do you honestly think I would give one shit about my money if she left me?” He turned to face my parents. “A prenup is unnecessary because there’s only one way that I will ever allow Kincaid to leave me, and that’s over my dead body.”

I reached for his hand, and when his fingers were tightly threaded through mine, I looked over at Jonathan Lexington. Since our parents were too emotionally involved in all this, he was the one I needed to speak to. “I know it doesn’t appear so, but I do have a lot of respect for what The Order stands for and the benefits to belonging to such an organization,” I told him. “However, my devotion isn’t just limited to my husband and best friend and the contracts that I’ve signed. Whether it was your intention or not, when you put this initiating class together, you assembled a group of young men who cannot be controlled. You created a monster that you were never going to be in control of.” I looked over at my friends, and this moment deserved nothing less than the absolute truth. So, turning back to face Jonathan Lexington, I added, “It’s important for you and the entire organization to understand that my loyalty is to Fox first, Saxton second, then that group of people over there.” I jerked my chin towards where all my friends were standing together. “I will always choose them over The Order, and I don’t care what that might mean for me.” I let go of Fox’s hand and stepped towards Jonathan. “I’m okay with dying for them. I’m also okay with killing for them. Do not ever put me in a position where we have to choose, Mr. Lexington, or else you will have a war on your hands.”

Jonathan stared down at me for a long time before he finally looked over at where his son stood with his friends. “Do you all feel the same way?”

Rylee stepped up and said, “You’re damn straight we do.” Stone just leaned down and kissed her on the side of her head.

His eyes flew over towards where the priest was standing and said, “Understood. However, perhaps we should continue this conversation at a later date. It’s late, and we should probably all get going.”

“Perhaps you’re right,” I agreed.

After thanking the priest, we all went our separate ways, the generic prenup a torn-up mess in the garbage can, and a pissed off Fox Harrington walking next to me.
