“I’ll tell her you said goodbye,” I say after the stranger returns from grabbing his things.

“Thanks,” he says. He’s smiling at Megan and I wonder if he actually has feelings for her. “Enjoy your night. I’ll see you around.”

“Indeed,” I say, cocking a brow.

He walks out the door and I slide right back into the trashy novel I picked up for myself while I was out this morning.

After an hour of reading a juicy reverse-harem storyline, Leeah and Amanda come walking down the hallway and into the living room where Megan is still drooling on the couch pillow beside me.

“Hey,” I say, hoping my cheeks aren’t too flushed with arousal. “Sleep good?”

“I did,” Leeah says in her perky voice.

“Not at all,” Amanda admits. “I have an exam coming up in my one class and I haven’t had much time to study.”

I frown. “I’m sorry to hear that. I’ll help quiz you if you need me to.” I get to my feet and walk over to the outfit bag, pulling out the silver and pink fabric. I hand them over to the girls and Amanda’s eyes light up.

“I’m awake now,” she says. “What’s this for?”

I hug them both. “Because I love you bitches.”

“Enough said,” Leeah says, smiling at me and hugging her new outfit.

“I’m wearing this bad boy tonight!” Amanda shouts, causing Megan to stir on the couch.

“You woke the beast,” Leeah says, smirking.

Megan gives her the finger, but everyone laughs. That’s when Amanda notices the giant bag next to the couch and walks over to it. She kneels down and ruffles through the party favors and decorations.

She looks from me to Megan and asks, “Is this for Aiden?”

Megan nods. “It sure is.”

Everyone looks up at me and they move in, wrapping their arms around me and chanting about how wonderful I am.

Then, Megan adds, “And she got us a dishwasher.”

Amanda screeches with enthusiasm. Leeah does a little dance. Megan watches the excitement that she experienced when she first got wind of everything I did today.

And I simply smile at them. Appreciating the fact that they’re thankful for the things I’ve done.

They all rush me again, all of them in their underwear, hugging me and jumping up and down.

And all I can think is,this reminds me of the build up to a scene I just read in my trashy novel.

Chapter thirteen

Let Go of My Husband!

I’msittingintheback seat of Megan’s car, jamming to 90’s R&B on the radio while we head to the club to get ready for the night. Windows are down, despite the nip in the air from the cloudy evening sky, and we’re all singing at the top of our lungs as we pull into the parking lot.

“I still can’t believe the big event is in two days,” Megan says as we climb out of the car. “I’m not ready for this.”

“What should I expect from this?” I ask, hoping I don’t get the eye roll that I got when I first met these girls.

“Chaos,” Leeah says.

Amanda chuckles. “It’ll be fine. We just need to make it through tonight and then our day off tomorrow will help us relax. The following night is a go-with-the-flow kind of event. It’ll definitely be chaotic, but it’ll be fun.”
