Page 5 of Damn Roommate

I throw an amused look at Leo who shrugs his shoulders.

“For me, she’s still 12 years old and has braces,” I joke.

“I just wanted to put things straight to avoid conflict.”

“You brought it on all by yourself,” Scarlett grumbles, getting up. “I’m going to get the pizzas.”

Then she quickly disappears into the kitchen, leaving the three of us in the living room with a list of more stupid rules and the start of a roommate relationship that is sure to be a complicated disaster.

And it’s only been two hours since she moved in.

Scarlett

I fume, taking another glance at the time on my phone screen.

Nine twenty-one.

I have class in thirty-nine minutes and fifteen minutes of public transportation.

I knock again on the bathroom door, making an incredible noise while Leo and my brother are still in their room. They start in the early afternoon, unlike Nolan and I who have to be at university by ten o’clock. However,Monsieurseems determined to monopolize the bathroom until I’m too late to take a shower.

Damn it!

“Nolan!” I yell, drumming against the wood. “Move your ass, seriously, you’re not alone!”

The door opens just as I was about to knock my fist again. I stop my gesture, my arm raised in the air, my eyes riveted on the half-naked body in front of me. The towel wrapped around his hips, the wet hair dripping down his forehead, his chest is still a little wet and I have a hard time taking my attention away from his drawn abs. Tanned. I swallow and look up to meet his. His six-foot-tall body forces me to lift my chin. An amused smile twists his lips and anger threatens even more.

“You suck!”

“Hello to you too, Scarlett.”

“And you could have put something on,” I grumble stepping around him.

The warmth of his body, just out of the shower, where I imagine him relaxing under the jet of water, overwhelms me. My skin tingles, my cheeks heat up, and I can’t get my mind off the idea I have of Nolan fully naked.

I have to remind myself to focus.

“Consider yourself lucky, I could have come out with my dickout.”

I slam the door in his face and hear his laughter from the hallway. I close my eyes, resting my head against the door before remembering the main thing: I’m late.

Ignoring my dark circles, I inspect my hair in the mirror and sadly see that it’s dirty. No time to wash it, I quickly jump under the jet and get out five minutes later. I put on my clothes, my skin still wet, and mishandle my denim shorts. The shower wasn’t long enough to wake me up from the restless night I had, but never mind. When I step out of the bathroom fifteen minutes later, I’m wearing makeup and a quick ponytail pulled up over my head. A big chunk of my short locks slipped out of my elastic band, but I have no other choice.

I trot back to my bedroom and grab my bag before heading into the kitchen. Nolan is standing in the middle of the room, in raw jeans with a burgundy T-shirt. This one I know, and it’s in my top 5 favorite ones for him to wear. The color, the fabric close to the body, the way he has to roll up the sleeves over his biceps.

Damn.

The day is off to a great start.

“I made you a thermos of coffee!”

He shoves the hot bottle into my hands, swallows his own in just a few sips, and grabs a banana from the fruit bowl on the counter.

“Are you ready? I’ll drop you off,” Nolan says.

He doesn’t wait for my answer and heads for the entrance of the apartment. I almost run behind him, grab a light jacket that I put over my shoulders.
