Ollie looked at me, grinning.

And naturally, Nico appeared right then. He ambled over to the group and sat down beside me, sandwiching me between him and Ollie.

Nico patted my knee in a too-intimate way. "Hey, Mara. Thanks for listening, and I hope you'll think about what I said. It's not too late for us."

I scooted closer to Ollie.

And Ollie squinted at Nico, his lips flattened.

Nico smiled at me in a way an ex-husband shouldnotbe smiling at his ex-wife when she was with someone else. I wanted to deck him. Then push him into a colony of velvety tree ants. While he was naked. So yeah, I didn't want Nico anymore. His pleas in the kitchen might've made me doubt that for a while, but I was over it.

Ollie grabbed my hand, jumped up, and dragged me toward the guest house.

My heart pounded. My ears started to ring because I'd stopped breathing. Why was I letting men fight over me, like I was a prize heifer and they were in a bidding war over me? It was my life. A grown woman with a mind of her own did not let men make all her decisions for her.

I stopped dead halfway to the guest house.

Ollie tugged my hand.

I yanked it away.

We stood there staring at each other for several seconds, both of us breathing hard though we hadn't walked that far. His gaze burned into me, hot with lust and irritation, a potent combination that made me grow warm too---warm and wet. He clenched his fists, which made his biceps swell.

Peripherally, I noticed the other guests on the lawn, their attention glued to me and Ollie. But I didn't care what they thought.

I barred my arms over my chest. "Don't drag me around like a suitcase. If you want to talk to me alone, ask first."

He stared at me, his eyes narrowed, for a few more seconds while he took slow, deliberate breaths. "Please come with me, Mara."

The tone of his voice shivered heat through me. It was full of hunger, the dirty kind.

"Since you asked nicely," I said, "I'll go with you."

He claimed my hand and led me into the guest house, straight to the kitchen. It had stainless steel appliances and stainless steel counters, with pots and pans and utensils hanging from hooks above the counters and the stainless steel island. It looked industrial, but then, this kitchen did serve all the guests three times a day.

The kitchen was empty right now.

Ollie hoisted me up by the waist and set me on the island. "The cooks went to town to buy groceries. We've got the kitchen to ourselves."

His voice still sounded rougher, sexier, hotter.

"I'm not hungry," I said.

"Really." He pushed between my thighs and mashed his mouth to mine, plunging his tongue deep without waiting for my tacit permission to do it, making me moan and sag into him. When he pulled away, we were both breathing harder again. "Still not hungry?"

Gazing into his eyes, feeling his hard body between my legs, I couldn't deny the truth. "Starving."

"Thought so." His mouth slanted into a sexy smirk. "And here's how I'm going to feed you..."

Chapter Twenty-Four

Ollie

Maybe I got a little jealous when Mara went off with her ex. Maybe I didn't like it when she came back and Nico followed her, then he touched her like he still owned her. Nobody owned Mara. I didn't want to, that was for sure. But I loved taking possession of her body so I could give her exactly what we both wanted.

Okay, I might've been a touch jealous.

Not anymore. I was the one who had Mara alone in the kitchen, where the erotic possibilities were endless. I'd never done anything like this before. Girls knew I rocked the bedroom, but they didn't like my adventurous suggestions.
