"No, it was Iain."

Lachlan clucks his tongue. "Now I know you're feeding me a porky. Iain doesn't gossip."

"No, he's even older than you, which means he's even more boring."

My brother huffs.

"Got to go, Lachie," I say. "I have a date with an enchanting lass, and I willnae be throwing her over because I'm too uptight to know how to treat a woman."

"Thalla's cagainn bruis, Aidan."

Away and chew a brush? I guess he's not as clever as I thought if he can't come up with a better insult than that. "I love you too, Lachie."

He snarls a few more Gaelic curses, finding less polite ways of telling me to bugger off. I disconnect the call while chuckling. Aye, my brothers are both uptight and no fun. That's why I will have no trouble winning over Calli.

Unless she runs away again.

Maybe I should plant a GPS chip on her, so I can track her down anywhere.

Discarding that idea, I consider my clothing options. Calli loved the kilt, but I think it might be too showy for a wedding reception. After all, I wouldn't want the women in attendance to be distracted by seeing my legs.

Aye, I'm joking. Even I am not that much of an erse.

But the kilt is too much for the occasion. I choose my dark-blue suit and a white shirt, the outfit lasses always love. I don't wear it often, though, since I don't attend many formal events. Will Calli like my clothes?

I'll find out soon.

After showering and dressing, I march out the door with my mission clear in my mind: Get the girl.

Chapter Four

When I arrive at the wedding reception, I'm not sure what I'm meant to do. Tara didn't give me explicit instructions. How will I find Calli? I'm standing in a crowd of wedding guests, having a nice conversation with an elderly couple who say they're the groom's grandparents, but I haven't seen the bride or her sexy cousin. I don't think the groom's grandparents know anything about Tara inviting me or why she did that.

Maybe I'm starting to feel a wee bit odd about crashing a wedding reception. But Tara did invite me.

The groom's grandparents excuse themselves to go talk to their grandson, and I watch couples shuffling around the dance floor.

Suddenly, the crowd thins a bit and I see her. Calli. She's sitting at a table near the windows with her cousin. Tara says something that makes Calli's eyes go wide and her mouth drop open. Then she wriggles in her chair and fusses with her dress. Even from this distance, I can tell she's wearing a bonnie mint-green frock, a color that looks good on her and compliments all that fiery red hair.

Tara glances my way, smiling and waving to me.

She wants me to go over there, right? I stride through the crowd headed for the woman of my dreams, and excitement rushes through me as I draw closer to the bonnie redhead. Does she want to see me? Or did her cousin trick her into this?

Calli sees me, and I can't help grinning.

Tara says something to Calli, then rises and walks away.

I'm close enough now that I can see Calli is poking at the food on her plate while trying not to look at me. I halt beside the chair Tara had vacated. "May I sit with you?"

"Um… sure."

I sit down, settling one arm on the tabletop. Our shoes almost touch, our knees too, but I don't mind.

She crosses her right leg over the left one.

My gaze snaps to her right thigh and the high slit in her dress that exposes nearly all of her shapely leg. I can't stop myself from licking my lips. Her green frock drapes over one shoulder, leaving the other bare. She looks incredible, sexier than at the club, and I want to pick up where we left off last night.

But I won't do that. Not yet.
