His gaze dropped to her lips, and they parted. A little. Just enough to tease him. To flood him with a maddening need to brush his own over them. To discover if hers were as soft as they looked, as sweet.

He dragged his stare back up to her eyes, his heart a fucking canon in his ears. “Zeta…”

Why do I want to kiss you so much right now?

“Mick.” His name fell from her in a breath.

A distant part of his mind realized they’d stopped dancing. They stood motionless, his hand pressed to the small of her back, her hand almost buried in his hair at the back of his neck, her hips pressed to his, their heads close. Close.

They didn’t like each other, and yet this moment felt more…morerightthan any other he’d ever experienced.

Holding her stare, he drew his head closer still to hers. She combed her fingers deeper into his hair, pressing her body—hips, belly, thighs—to his. Her heat seeped into him. Seared him. Stirred him.

Consumed him.

“I know it’s crazy,” he murmured, drowning in the exquisite blue of her eyes, “but I really want to—”

A monumental cheer shattered the air. People clapped, wooted, and stamped their feet. Zeta jerked back from him, out of his arms.

He staggered back a step himself, swinging a confused look around the dance floor. What the…

Ahh.

It seemed Owen had dipped Bria and was now snogging her quite thoroughly in the middle of the polished parquet flooring.

“Onya, Blackthorne,” the MC called from the side of the dance floor.

Zeta shot the speaker—Lawson something-or-other—a quick glance before looking back at her sister and her new husband.

Mick had dipped her a few moments ago on the dance floor, but he sure hadn’t kissed her like that when he’d done it.

And you’d wanted him to?

Hell no.

The tight flutter between her thighs suggested that was an outright lie.

Fark.

“Get a room,” someone else shouted on a laugh.

For some reason, she flicked a glance at Mick.

He stood a few feet away, stiff and hardly moving, watching the married couple. His Adam’s apple jerked up and down his throat. She snapped her stare back to Bria and Owen just as Owen zipped her sister upright again with dramatic gusto.

More cheering and clapping from the guests.

Bria beamed at everyone and then at her husband. “God, I love you,” she told him before snaking her arms around his neck and kissing him again.

And again, Zeta found herself looking at Mick.

She’d been a breath away from doing the same thing to him before the cheering interrupted them. A heartbeat away from tugging his head down to hers and kissing him. Just to show him she knew how to kiss as well as he knew how to dance. Just to throw him off-kilter.

That is so not the reason.

There was more fluttering between her thighs. It was a wholly excited, horny sensation that confused the hell out of her. It wasn’t possible she was sexually attracted to Mick Blackthorne. Not possible at all.
