Her cheeks grew hot.
“What?” She frowned, yanking her stare away from Mick and back to Bria.
Bria flicked a glance downward.
Zeta did the same, more heat filling her cheeks as Bria gently shook the large bouquet of ivory roses and gum leaves in her hand.
Dio, they’d reached the do-you-have-the-rings part of the wedding.
She’d zoned out for most of the ceremony.
Goddamn Mick Blackthorne. This was all his fault.
Really?
Snatching at Bria’s gorgeous bouquet, she mumbled she was sorry and shuffled back a step, eyes downcast, but not before catching the look on Mick’s face.
Judgey jerk.
The celebrant cleared his throat. “As I said before,nowfor the vows and the rings.”
A soft chuckle went through the guests, and Bria laughed.
“Hey, gave me a few more seconds to remember mine,” Owen declared.
Bria laughed again. “God, I love you.”
“I bloody well hope so,” he said. “Given what we’re about to do.”
Everyone laughed again.
A deep rumbling chuckle caught on Zeta’s sanity and, face still aflame, she looked up through her lashes.
Mick was laughing along with everyone, and when his gaze found hers, he lifted his eyebrows at her.
She poked her tongue out at him.
God, what was she? Eight?
You’re going to ruin Bria’s wedding.
The thought sheered through her, and she sucked in a breath. Okay, enough. Mick was a pain in the ass, but she wasn’t going to let him get under her skin. Not today. She was going to be a responsible, sophisticated adult.
Straightening her spine, she shook out her shoulders and tilted her chin.Bite me, she mouthed.
He arched another eyebrow, lips twitching.
“Owen?” the celebrant said, jerking Zeta’s attention from Mick.Again. “Your vows?”
Zeta fixed her stare on Bria and Owen. She wasn’t going to acknowledge Mick for the rest of the ceremony.
That’d teach his ego.
Owen pulled in a deep, choppy breath and took Bria’s hands. “Here we go.”
Mick chuckled. “Here we go indeed.”
Zeta ground her teeth. God, what did she have to do to stop him getting under her skin?
