“I remember Mercenary bringing this up.”

She nods. “Yeah. Trust me; it’s a good thing. Something you’ll remember for the rest of your life.”

A bright smile overtakes my face. “Oh, then I’m excited about it.”

“Speaking of, here comes the grouchy man.”

“Mercenary?”

“Yep, coming up hot, behind you.”

“Oh God,” I breathe and take a healthy gulp of my own margarita.

“Club full of half-naked women and yet you two stick out like diamonds in the rough.”

Princess shrugs. She’s model worthy, so she definitely stands out amongst any woman here.

“It’s the boxer shorts and plain white T-shirts,” I comment and copy Princess with a shrug.

“You may be on to something,” he agrees, setting his fresh beer on the table and takes a seat between us. He’s not invited, but apparently, he doesn’t require an invitation.

My back grows stiff with his presence, but I keep quiet, sipping my drink, making it a bit awkward for him.

A few beats of quiet passes before he tries again. “What’s up with that anyhow?”

“With what?” Princess cocks her head, peering over him like he’s an annoying younger brother.

His stormy irises find mine. “You dressing like that.”

“Oh, when I came to the club with the guys I didn’t stop to grab any of my clothes. I haven’t been home since, so I’ve been borrowing what I can.”

He nods, his gaze still full of curiosity and need as he eats me up with his stare. “You’re not married?”

I shake my head and catch Princess rolling her eyes.

“Look, it’s not my place to say anything since you’re a brother and I respect my ol’ man’s club a lot, but that won’t keep me muzzled about this. You have too much interest in someone’s woman. It won’t go over well with the other brothers.”

He flicks a glare in her direction. “I don’t need your warnings. You’re the Prez’s ol’ lady, I get that, but who I fuck and decide to check out, isn’t any of your business.”

Her hands shoot up, palms out as a smirk overcomes her. “Oh I know, I was only offering up a friendly warning. Heed it or not, it’s your funeral.” She ends with a wink, and a giggle bubbles up from me.

At the sound, he shoots me an amused grin. “Why do I get the notion you two are trouble in the making?”

“I’m not trouble!” I protest with a smile.

P shrugs. “I’ve always walked to my own beat.”

“You come off as bitchy, but I think I like you, Princess.”

“Good,” she replies. “Make sure you don’t like me too much though, ‘cause my man really will scalp you.”

He chuckles, tipping his beer to her and takes a gulp.

I don’t know if the guys would actually do anything to him in my honor, but I sure don’t want to test the theory.

Our conversation’s broken up with a shout from Viking. “Church! Get the fuck to the chapel!”

At that, Mercenary leaves us without a word, and I’m finally able to relax with my friend.
