“I could’ve been in California by now starting a new life,” she screamed back.

Every time she said that it hurt all over again.

“You mean you should’ve left me and killed our baby so you could be a whore. Oh, I’m sorry, your baby might not even be mine.”

I instantly regretted my cruel words.

“Fuck you, Kingpin. What would it matter? Sounds like you and Eve already lost a baby together.”

“For fucks’ sake, Eve wasn’t talking about me. Sky, I’m sorry. Let me in so I can explain.”

“Just leave.”

I kicked the door a few times but knew that was useless. The steel door was reinforced. I’d have to get a spare key out of my office.

Chapter 8

Kingpin

Leaving the Big House, I made a beeline to the main building. Past the burnt remains of our arena, I entered the back door. I took the shortest path through the throne room, which could be entered through a hall in the back of the clubhouse. Luckily my meeting hall was secured with a security code, no key needed. I’d have to install a keypad for my bedroom after this shit.

Rushing through the throne room, I about tripped on one of the silky pillows on the ground. We hadn’t had an orgy since Sky arrived. Not that I ever participated. I only ever watched. You wouldn’t catch me in the middle of that jizzfest. I’d always loved a few women in my bed but didn’t want to get groped by other men. The thought of it turned my stomach on account of the abuse I suffered in the slammer. And getting married, I planned to be a one-woman man, anyhow. I hadn’t quite figured out how that was going to work yet.

It just had.

Grabbing a chair, I propped open the door that led to the casino so I could go back through in a jiff. Leaving the soundproof room for the nightclub, the noise struck me. Dimple was on tonight, singing an upbeat, “I’ve Never Been to Spain”.

Strolling through Royal Road shirtless was old hat. The women’s faces lit up when they saw me. No one suspected anything was amiss. I shot out greetings like bullets making my way through the crowd. Passing the bar, I longed for a drink, but I didn’t have time. I didn’t need Sky to go another second misunderstanding what she saw.

Back in my office, which thankfully also had a code, I found my spare key easily. It was safely tucked between two books on my shelves, War and Peace and LOTR. Bikers around here never picked up a book, let alone a thick one, unless they planned to injure someone with it. Slipping the key in my pocket, I rocketed back through the crowd, blowing kisses instead of talking.

My eyes had adjusted to the dark lit with neon, so I saw the door to the throne room had shut before I reached it. In a hurry, I punched in the code. Swinging the door open, I hit a couple making out. They must’ve wandered in from the dance floor and knocked the chair. The big guy grabbed a hold of my bare shoulder like I’d done something wrong. My hand slapped onto his. Digging my nails in, I squeezed. No one laid hands on me. I was ready to fight. With the night I’d had, I ached for it.

Tearing his hand off me and pinning it behind his back, I spotted our logo. I recognized the buzz cut too. It was Hallow.

The girl he’d about eaten the face off wasn’t Eve.

From the smell of him, Hallow was three sheets to the wind. I shoved him forward.

He spun. Although his posture was on guard, his expression changed to one of utter shock. Brother comprehended that he’d laid hands on his President. He put down his fists.

“Sorry Prez.”

He touched his forehead like he didn’t know where he was or how he’d gotten into my sacred room.

“Awe, shit.” His whore slinked away from him. He complained, “Cock blockin’ me, Prez”

I held the door open for her.

Hallow slurred his words, calling out to her, “That’s not the only pussy ‘round here.”

Once the door shut, I turned the dial, lighting up the throne room completely. Overhead lights almost blinded us until I dimmed them again.

“Awe, fuck. Am I in trouble? I know, I know. No one is supposed to touch ya. It was an accident, Prez.”

Turning to Hallow, I clutched my clenched fist. This motherfucker had gotten on my last nerve. Taking a breath, I tried to fight the urge to punch him in the mouth and shut it. I didn’t have the time.

“Hallow, you’re drunk. I’d rather kick a hole in your ass when I’m sure you’ll remember it.”
