“You noticed I left him out of it, huh.” Sweet Tea had a soft spot for him. She put her hands on her hips. “You even consider him an officer?”

“He’s our Cleaner. Yeah, that’s an officer.”

Thorn was one of the best and no drama.

“You’d be right about one part, Junebug had been fucking him. I didn’t want to tell you. It’s been going on a while. But believe me, he’s not been with her lately.”

“How do you know?”

“He likes it sweet sometimes. Lately more than not. So, I know she ain’t been in his bed. If you catch my drift.” She spoke of her fucking Thorn.

Proud of herself, she puckered her lips, nodding. That confirmed it.

“Goliath?”

Sweet Tea rolled her eyes. She didn’t even entertain the question.

I was pleased she hadn’t completely figured out my most trusted brother yet.

Goliath had his share of women, but he wasn’t interested in them that way. He didn’t get attached to any woman like that. It made him the perfect Enforcer.

I’d finished my plate by the time when Eve walked in. That made it all too easy to disappear. I left before Sweet Tea saw her neck and came to any conclusions about us. I knew she saw me come up the stairs from the basement too. Whore didn’t miss a thing.

I couldn’t think of Eve now.

I had to take care of this business of Sky betraying me.

Chapter 17

Kingpin

As I walked out of Royal Road, my phone buzzed. I hit decline without even looking at it. I thought about what to say to Sky since she was up. My phone buzzed again. This time I looked while I was about to decline her call.

Butthead flashed on the screen, not Sky. I’d renamed Bubba’s contact. That asshole shot his video at Royal Road, paying me a pretty penny so I could rebuild my arena. Therefore, I thought I'd heard the last of him for a while. Especially since he broke Maddie Mae's heart, and her ass flew back to Fresno. Why was he calling now?

And why the fuck did I always answer?

“Hey, butthead. This isn't really a good time right now.”

“You always answer, Beau. So, I know you're curious.”

The man was right.

“I'm dying to know. Don't call me Beau. It's Kingpin.”

“Don't call me butthead.”

“Okay, Bubba.” I didn’t have time for his shit.

“Kingpin, I don't have time for your shit.” Bubba matched my mood.

After all, we were identical twins, even though we didn’t look it no more. My clean-cut, country music star brother couldn’t hold a candle to my devilish, biker persona. Under my beard and tattoos, I’d look just like him, all but the scar on my chin.

Bubba’s voice softened. “I wanted to break this to you differently, but I guess, I'll just come out and say it. Dad's dying. If you want to say goodbye, you need to meet me at the hospital.”

“The hospital? Thought he was in that nursing home you were paying for?”

“He's dying, Kingpin. And he's asking for Beau. He knows that ain't me.”
