Completely.

If we were to get back together, we'd have to have several long talks about it. I felt like a woman even thinking about it. Talking. No, we’d have to come to an understanding. Sky was married to the President of a fucking motorcycle gang. Not some pansy who talked about his feelings. I was never going to ever be fooled by her again. She’d never rule me or my going’s on in the future.

I thought I could wait to take her back but hearing from Paisley that Sky was fixing to get on stage and take her clothes off, showing everybody what's mine, I didn't want to wait anymore. I stormed to the back only to find a circle of whores. Pushing my way through them, I ignored their cries. I focused on Sky passed out in the middle. As I had many times before, I picked her off the ground and held her limp body to me.

This time, I didn’t know if she was okay. Unlike all the times before, she was way too pale. It was only then I paid attention to what the women were saying. I found out Memphis and her had fought. Laying Sky on the ground, I had words with Memphis.

“She threw the first punch. I swear. See, I’m bleeding. Girl just fainted.”

The whores backed up her story.

“You lay a hand on my OL’ Lady again, and you’re out bad like Junebug,” I warned Memphis in front of the others, all her whores. “I don’t want your blown out street meat anymore, but I’ve let you stay on here. Don’t test me.”

My declaration in front of her friends would hurt her more than beating her ass.

“Get on to work,” I said to the lot of them.

They scurried.

I bent to Sky again. Holding her, I felt powerless. I wanted her again so bad I could taste it. But she was hurt. I worried for her and the baby. And she’d done given everyone something to talk about again.

Sky’s eyes fluttered open.

Fuck. Finally. To hell with the club gossip. I was going to have her tonight.

“You're okay.” I was relieved.

“That bitch cold-cocked me.” Sky rubbed her head.

Maybe she wasn’t alright. What did Memphis do to her?

Panicking, I got up to help her up and home. Though maybe I shouldn’t move her.

“You sure all this fainting ain’t going to hurt the baby?”

“I honestly have no idea. But this was your whore’s fault. She started it. Kingpin, I think I’m going to have to leave here soon. No matter how much you threaten me.”

Sky held her stomach. She was hurt worse than I’d thought.

“I've had words with Memphis about it,” I said but was thinking of what to do. Did I call an ambulance or take her myself to get checked?

“Words? Is this how I'm going to be treated when I leave my house? You said I can't leave Royal Road. I have another doctor’s appointment soon. Are you even going to go with me?”

Sky started to get up on her own.

“I don't see why I would...” I started to say why I wouldn’t but then thought about Penelope, the nurse. She was by far the quickest option.

I helped Sky up and to her house since she seemed fine to walk.

“You need to go, get inside, and lay down. Gonna have Penelope come over here and have a look at you.”

“Why do you care?” Sky went inside.

Calling the nurse, I paced on her front porch.

“My Ol’ Lady fainted. She’s pregnant. She hit the ground. Could that hurt the baby?” I went on asking a bunch of questions. Told her to come and check her out right away.

“I’ve got to get dressed. Give me a minute.”
