We danced until we were saturated with sweat. While we didn’t normally perspire like humans, we did if heavily exerted, which was exactly what we were doing.

Josh tapped his wrist as if to say it was time to go, and I touched Kristin’s arm. “Time to go.”

“Okay, fine. I’m exhausted anyway.”

We started to make our way down the stairs, and everyone began to scream for Kristin. Hands were everywhere as they reached out to touch her. She actually stopped twice, to kiss two different men, and they were the kind of kisses that could turn you on, not just say hello.

Both men looked flabbergasted as she stepped away from them. I doubt that they would wash their mouths anytime soon. These vampires here were young in our society, or from the outer rim of our society. They were not made from elders, or people that we normally associated with. That is why I liked it there. These people just wanted to have fun and enjoy their life.

As we spilled out the front door, Kristin laughed and threw her hands in the air. “Damn that felt good!” A camera flashed and she spun her head quickly. The person who had taken a picture vanished around the corner and I saw just the tiniest movement as if she were going to go after him, but then she shrugged.

Josh wrapped his arm around her, and he whisked her to the transport. Back inside, everyone was bubbling with excitement and I sat back studying my sister. She looked almost like her old self again.

When we arrived back at the hotel, there was a crowd of reporters at the door. Word must have gotten out that Kristin had been out having fun. “Drop me off out front. Josh, Angelina, Ryker and I will get out there. The rest of you go with the transport to the garage.” Kristin stated.

She shook her hair back before she got out of the back and turned to the camera’s smiling. Josh instantly at her side, his arm around her and she took his hand and laced her fingers with his, turning toward him and slowly kissing him as if promising a good time to come, before she walked into the hotel. Ryker put his hand to my back, laughed huskily under his breath at her display of affection and then escorted me inside as the transport drove away and the camera’s recorded the whole thing.

Well, that was certainly going to get the news out.

Chapter 16 – Kristin

At six in the morning, I was sitting at my desk, my feet kicked up on the wooden surface, and I was surfing the news. The screen in front of me was virtual and floated in the air and with a flick of the wrist, the images changed, and the words scrolled on.

I flexed my hand to stop the page, “Mistress hits the dance floor.” It was one of many headlines that I had already seen. Another that I found earlier was, “Mistress and Lover? Or Future Master?” Under that one was a picture of Josh and I kissing. I had stared at the image of us, enlarged it slightly, it looked passionate which was good.

Josh was aware that when I kissed him like that, it was either a lustful urge, or I was trying to explain off why Josh was always so close to me—always touching me. Making it seem like he was my romantic interest just made sense.

I skimmed through a few more searches, and laughed at the next one, “Mistress Breaks Out: Dancing and Drinking with the commoners of her breed.” On that article, there was a picture of me outside the club, my arms in the air, my head thrown back, and I looked excited and relaxed. I skimmed the article, chuckling at the comments that several of the patrons had made. “She was just like the rest of us, she just wanted to have fun,” and “She kissed my mate, he said I can’t kiss him again until his lips stop tingling.”

The story went on describing how I had slipped into the club, ordered drinks for everyone and then danced my little heart out for just over two hours before I left a happy and excited crowd. There was nothing negative in the article, in fact, from what I saw, my plan had worked. My people were happy to have seen me, thrilled that they had a chance to mingle with me in a relaxed setting.

My phone began to ring, and I picked it up, noting Hugh’s number. “Good morning.”

His voice was husky as if he hadn’t spoken much yet today, “Good morning to you, Mistress. I see that you made quite a splash in the news last night.”

I chuckled, “It was fun. I needed to get out and do that. It’s been a long time.”

“I wish I had known; I would have joined you.”

“You like to dance?”

“I’ve been known to do it once in a while. Can’t say I’m any good at those fast moves, but I sure can dazzle on a slow song.”

“Oh, I bet you could. Is that why you are calling? To say you want me to let you know the next time I go out?”
