“I am. I had a doctor’s appointment the day I saw you and Richard at the medical complex.” I gnawed on my bottom lip for a moment. “Seeing you is what helped me make the decision.”
“What decision?”
“To keep the baby. When I saw you, I knew something bad was happening, and there was no way that I could do anything bad to Ethan’s child.”
Rebecca studied me with light-blue eyes. “Riley, do you love my son?”
“I do, Rebecca.”
“I mean, like a woman loves a man, not like a family member.”
I tried to smile as I glanced around. “I want to think I do, but I’m not sure. I don’t think I have ever been in love before, and I don’t know how I feel about anything right now.”
“Well, I think one day, you will know for sure. I personally think you do, but I know you need to figure that out on your own. I know that Ethan loves you more than life and would do anything for you, and he will be that way for his child. Please make sure that whatever you decide, you include him in the decisions of raising his child. Will you promise me that?”
“I promise, Rebecca.” I held her hand as we both let tears drift down our cheeks. “I promise.”
