Icouldn’t believe that Corbin and Lena had mated.I walked away from her room with my head spinning.Lucky bastard is all I had to stay to Corbin.If it were possible for me to be with a woman, I would have done everything I could to be in her bed.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t capable of doing such an act.Thanks to the humans and the torture that they’d inflicted upon me.
I told everyone who had gathered in the meeting room to wait for Corbin to join us.I peered nervously at Marissa, wondering what she was going to think of this new mating.I had a feeling it was going to hit her pretty hard.She had always had a thing for Corbin, but after Tonya, he wouldn’t even look at another woman.
When Corbin joined us, he looked anxious, as if he were nervous about what everyone would say.He glanced at Marissa and made a wide arc around her as he came into the room, but if he thought that was going to hide the new scent he carried, he was seriously off base.
Marissa wasn’t the first to catch it.Flora was.“Um, why do you smell like peaches?”
Corbin glanced my way briefly before he inhaled deeply.“No sense hiding it.Lena and I are mated now.”
My gaze was on Marissa as he spoke, and her face went from surprised to unbelieving and then turned to a mask of fury in only a couple of seconds.
“Are you kidding me?”she barked as she popped to her feet.“How the hell can that even be possible?”
Corbin looked at me as if asking for my help.“Because Corbin is a reborn.Angelina confirmed it not long ago.”
“What?”Bark laughed.“Dude, how did we not know?”
“Wait, that’s why Tonya died, isn’t it?”Beck asked him, and Corbin nodded slowly, looking upset.
“After Tonya died, Corbin started researching why it happened.He kind of thought that was the case, but he didn’t know who to ask to confirm it.When he saw what happened to Vegas after he took Lena’s blood, he asked her to confirm it.”
“Is that why you have been following her around like a little puppy dog?”Marissa sneered.
“No, I was trying to get her to help me figure out who I used to be.I have no memories of a former life.”
“Whatever.”She started toward the door.“I hope you guys have a wonderful life together.”
“Marissa!”I called out, but she was gone.Corbin started to head out after her.“No, let her go.She needs to deal with this on her own.”
“So, man, what was it like taking the great Angelina Michaels to your vein?”Zin asked with a smirk.
“Pretty fucking intense,” Corbin said with a laugh.
“You feel any different?”I asked him, having wondered the same thing as Zin.
“Yeah, not a lot, but there is this warmth in my body.It’s like working on all my cells.I feel stronger, but I’m not sure if that’s true or not.”
“Can you get into her head?”Bark asked.
Corbin grew quiet, and his head dropped slightly as if he were trying.“Yeah, I can.”He didn’t seem all that happy about what he saw, though.
“You good?”I asked him.
“Yeah, I’m good.She’s taking a shower.”He grinned.“And yes, the sex was fucking awesome.It was nice to finally be able to share blood with someone without the worry of killing them.”
“Yeah, man, that must be a nice feeling.”Beck chuckled.
“Damn, I still can’t believe you mated with Angelina Michaels!”Zin shook his head with a laugh.“That woman has a hell of a track record.”
“Yeah, well, mine isn’t much different than hers.”
“Well, I hope it works out for you two,” Flora said with a warm smile.
