“There will never be a day moving forward that you don’t know exactly how I’m feeling. Good or bad, I’m never holding back again. I almost lost you, Palmer. Me wanting the moment to be perfect kept me silent, and I almost lost you. I will never make that mistake again. Every moment with you is the right moment.”

I nod because how do I argue with that? “I love you.”

“I love you too.” He helps me with my leggings and then my shirt before cracking the door. I expect discharge to take forever, but apparently, I have connections with my baby daddy, and thirty minutes later, we’re walking into his house with my prescription in hand that he was able to have filled at the hospital pharmacy.

“Can I get you anything?” he asks.

“Sleep.”

“You’re tired?”

“I haven’t slept well in over a week.”

“Then we’ll go to bed.” He takes my hand and leads me down the hall to his room, well, our room now. “Deacon texted me. He said he has all of your equipment and everything at his place. He said to text him when you’re ready, and he’ll bring it by.”

“I can just pick it up on my way to the studio tomorrow. I have a key to their place.”

“My brothers all have a key to mine as well. I’m going to have to take them back.”

“What? Why?”

“Because this is your home now. I can’t have them walking in on you naked in the kitchen.”

“And who says I’m going to be naked in the kitchen?”

He rests his hand over my belly. “That’s how we got here,” he reminds me.

“Don’t take their keys, Brooks. I don’t want you to change your life for our baby and me.”

“I don’t want them seeing you.”

“Are you going to tell them that I live here?”

“You know that I am.”

“They’re good guys. They’re not going to come barging in, knowing that’s what they could find. You never know when there is an emergency, and they might need to get inside. Let them keep them.”

“Another reason I fell madly in love with you.”

“Oh, should I start a list?”

“Not enough paper in the world, baby.”

“You’re too much.”

“Come on.” He strips down to his boxer briefs, and I strip down to my panties. He hands me a shirt, and we crawl into bed. He wraps me in his warm embrace, and in no time, we’re both sound asleep.

EPILOGUE BROOKS

Brooks

Today was a great day. We started out with lunch with Palmer’s family and then ended with dinner with mine. We’re ten weeks pregnant, and still, the only people who know are Deacon and Ramsey. We thought it was best to hold it to ourselves until after her first trimester.

It was a struggle not to stand up and tell everyone we love, at her parents’ place and at mine, that I’m thankful for the love of my life and the mother of my daughter. No, we don’t know if we’re having a little girl, but I just feel like we are. Something in my heart tells me I’m going to have another little Palmer to love. Boy or girl, it doesn’t matter to me, but my heart tells me it’s a girl.

“I’m so tired,” Palmer says from her spot next to me on the couch.

“It was a long day.”
