Finally, I feel her shoulders start to relax. “I like that idea.”

“Me too.” She tilts her head back, and I lean forward, pressing my lips to hers. “And I’m starving,” I say against her lips.

“Thank God. I was afraid you had already eaten with the team, and I was going to have to sit here and have you watch me pig out on my own.”

“Order us one of everything.” I reach into my back pocket and pull out my credit card. “You can’t bill it to the room, your dad knows damn good and well you can’t eat all of that.”

“I’ll put it on mine. I don’t want them to ask for the name on the card.”

“Fine. When you get the bill, I’m paying it.”

“I can treat you to dinner.”

“This is more than dinner, Sunshine. This is the entire room service menu. No arguments or I call them and put it on my card myself.”

“We can’t do that.” She places her hands on her hips.

“Then I win.” I hand her the card, and after about a minute of her trying to change my mind with her mean stare, she relents and takes my card. “Fine,” she grumbles.

“Love you, Sunshine. I’m going to shower off this fucking day. I’ll be right out.”

“You didn’t bring clothes with you.” She points out the obvious.

“Baby, we’re not going to need clothes.” I toss her a wink and head to the bathroom. I strip out of my sweats and pull my shirt over my head. My underwear and socks are next. I take my time folding them into a neat pile since I’ll have to wear them out of here in the morning. The last thing I need is for the paparazzi to pass me in the hall, rumpled in yesterday’s clothes. I’m sure that would make headlines. If I’m put together, I can simply tell them I’m running out for coffee or some other bullshit excuse I can come up with on the fly.

Ten minutes later, with a towel wrapped around my waist, I run and jump on the bed where she’s lying. I smack her ass for good measure and then turn to lie flat on my back, angling my head to look at her. “Kiss me.”

She doesn’t hesitate to lean over me and press her lips to mine. Her taste wraps around me like a warm caress. I need her closer. With my arms wrapped around her back, I pull her to me, never breaking our kiss. I kiss her until our lips are bruised.

“B-Brock,” she says against my lips. “The food will be here soon.”

“Change of plans. Why don’t I just have you for dinner?”

“As enticing as that sounds, I’ve already ordered, and we’re both starving, remember?”

“Fine,” I concede. “But once the food is here, there is no talking me out of having you for dessert.”

“I ordered dessert.”

“Then you can enjoy it while I enjoy you,” I say as there’s a knock at the door.

“Make sure you check to see who it is,” I whisper as I climb off the bed and move to the bathroom. With her dad and herbrother both in this hotel, I’m not taking any chances. Part of me wants them to catch us so this game of hide and seek can be over. The other part of me worries about how they will react and what it will do to the bubble that we’ve been living in.

“I’m stuffed.” Joey pushes her chair back from the small dining table and moves to the bed. “Why did you let me eat so much?”

“Me? I wasn’t about to tell you that you had to stop eating. You’re hungry. You eat. It’s as simple as that.” That’s actually one of the things I love about her. She’s real. She’s never trying to put on a front to impress me.

“So, the night is still young,” she says, glancing over at the clock on the nightstand.

“Whatever shall we do?” I play into her game.

“I have a few ideas.”

“Yeah? Care to share them with the class?”

“No.” She shakes her head. “Not the class. Just with you.”

“I’m listening.”
