“What? Why?”

“I have some things I have to deal with, and I’m going to look into who took those pictures of you.”

“It doesn’t matter. I’m over it. I have you.”

“Perhaps, but there are men out there who have seen what is mine. And I have to rectify that. I told you, little dove, I’m going to take care of you. And so, this is something I must do.” Without giving her another chance to argue, I slipped my shirt back on, glided out the door, and transported back home.

EVE

I wokethe next morning full of shame. Not because I regretted what happened between us, but because I wanted more.

All this time, I’d told myself I didn’t necessarily want to go all the way with Duke or wait a little longer before giving myself to him. But last night, I found myself on the brink of giving it all up and saying, “take me here on this bed. Right now.” The way he knew my body, making it sing in a way I never thought possible … it was too much and not enough.

But I imagined making love to Duke would not be like anything from my books. It would be more intense, consuming, and life-changing—that both terrified and excited me.

My biggest disappointment waking in the morning was finding Duke had already left. There wasn’t even a note to tell me where he went or when I would see him, although I suppose that’s what cell phones are for.

I dressed and went about my day, heading to class and the library for work. I kept checking my phone all day, waiting to see if he would message me, but there was still nothing.

While I put away books, trying to focus on the Dewey Decimal System instead of imagining how Duke’s mouth felt on mine, my stomach knotted, and the hair on the back of my neck stood on end. I felt like I was being watched or followed as I moved between racks and racks of books, but nobody was there.

Maybe it was my longing to turn around and find Duke there, ready to sweep me off my feet and take me back to our dorm to finish what we started last night. After not hearing from him all day, Duke felt like a dream, and I wondered if he had been.

Sliding a copy of Shakespeare onto the shelf, I exhaled and leaned against it, pulling out my phone to check it again. Still nothing from Duke. Instead, I found myself scrolling through our previous messages, pausing to open a photo that at one point had unsettled me, but now I was more intrigued by it.

His hand was wrapped around the length of his cock while he stroked himself in the picture, which was zoomed in to show me only the shaft in his hand. I recalled how his hot mouth moved against my skin last night, and my nipples tightened under the silk of my blouse. Heat rushed to pool between my legs as my body remembered the mind-blowing pleasure he’d given me without that in his hand. What could he do once it was set free?

Setting the phone on the shelf where I could see it, I glanced around to ensure I was alone before bringing my hand to my chest and rubbing the peaked nubs under the fabric. This elicited a soft moan, and my hand traveled down my stomach, teasing the hem of my skirt.

My finger slipped beneath the band and found the seam of my lower lips, pressing a finger on the same spot Duke had sucked on last night. The effect was almost immediate as my hips rocked harder against my hand. I braced myself with my other on the shelves behind me, rubbing quicker as heat flooded my body, scorching through me like I was about to be incinerated.

My eyes fluttered closed as I lost myself imagining Duke standing in front of me with that massive cock, beads of pre-cum dripping from the head. I pictured what it would feel like in my mouth as I tasted it. My tongue twisting around it, soaking it with my saliva before he prepared to sink it inside me and fill me in a way no man ever had.

Behind me, someone dropped a book, startling me out of my fantasy. I yanked my hand free from my skirt, grabbed the phone, and turned quickly to find an older student gawking at me. The heat between my legs rushed to my cheeks as I floundered for something to say.

Did he see me? Did he know what I was doing?

“I–” The words stuck to my tongue as I turned away, grabbing the cart and pushing it quickly back behind the safety of the librarian's desk. My eyes slipped to the clock, relieved to find my shift ended soon. Maybe I could leave early.

I parked the cart and hurried to find my coworker, offering a half-assed excuse before leaving for the night. Once outside, I jogged down the steps to return to my dorm. I didn’t know if I wanted to finish what I started or hide away. Either way, I hoped I never saw that man again.

No sooner had the thought entered my mind than I stepped off the stairs and found myself face-to-face with him.

“You know, if you’re lonely, I’m more than happy to keep you company.” He offered me a grin that made my stomach twist in ways that weren’t pleasurable.

I shook my head. “I’m not sure what you saw, but it’s not what you think.”

He grinned almost ferally as I tried to step around him, glancing at the emergency pole. Would I need to hit the button to ask for an escort back to my dorm? I hoped he would get the hint and leave me alone as I hurried past the parked cars down the sidewalk.

“I don’t know,” he said as he followed behind me. “It looked like you needed a little company back there. It’s a pretty big library. Sometimes you can get stuck in the racks alone for a while.”

I glanced over my shoulder at him. Why did it sound more threatening than his words were? Then, before he could say anything else, Duke appeared out of nowhere, gripping his throat and backing him against the stone building.

“I should rip your eyes out for what you saw,” he growled as he leaned closer.

“Duke!” I shouted at him in surprise. I reached for him, but my touch on the shoulder wasn’t enough to stop him as he squeezed the man’s throat. “Stop!”

He wasn’t aware of my presence as he glared at the other man. “You know what? Maybe I will.” He released his throat to cup his head instead, digging his thumbs into his eyes. When the man started to scream, the sounds suddenly stopped although his mouth was still moving. I watched in horror as Duke’s thumbs pierced the cavities of the skull, popping his eyeballs free from their sockets.
