“And what does that mean for me?”

Cash grimaced slightly as he considered his answer. “To be honest, I’m not sure. I spent the last week trying to keep you out of the media, but rumors are already circulating after that show you made at the meet and greet. TMZ’s been on our ass about it. Same with Just Jared and Perez Hilton. But Roman’s not talking to anybody, so management doesn’t know what to do. Nobody knows who you are, but they’re looking. It won’t be long until they find you.”

He looked sad about that before his face suddenly perked up. “Oh, I forgot!” He dug into his back pocket and held out a Ziploc bag. Inside was a single toothbrush.

My heart surged as my eyes lit up. “Is this—?”

He nodded. “Yeah.”

“And you’re sure?”

“Yeah, I watched him use it myself and then toss it on the counter. So, I snuck in and grabbed it.

I exhaled in relief. “That’s amazing. Thank you so much.” I stuffed the toothbrush into my bag. Maybe there was a lab here where I could run the DNA test. If not, I’d have to find somewhere else, and it couldn’t be that hard.

“So, what do you have planned after this?” I looked at Cash, unable to hide the smile on my face. I found myself growing more and more attracted to him. Here he was, showing interest in taking care of me more than Roman, and he didn’t mind that it was Roman’s baby. I placed us in the “just friends” category, but maybe there was a chance for something more.

After Skye finished her appointment, we got into my car, and I drove back to Sage River. She wasn’t wrong about it being a small town. It was barely a blip on the radar, but she directed me to a small ma-and-pop diner, a hole-in-the-wall place.

We headed inside for something to eat since she was starving after fasting for her glucose test. The waitress showed us to a booth beside the window, and Skye struggled to get her bag over her head. Reaching out, I helped her head and set it on the bench before taking her hand and guiding her into her seat.

Once settled across from her, I flipped the menu open and looked over it. “What are you in the mood for?”

“God, I could eat everything!” She laughed. “I’m so hungry all the time now. I don’t know if it’s a psychological thing, but the cravings have worsened since figuring out I was pregnant. My appetite has been—insatiable.”

She paused before she said “insatiable,” staring at me. Was there some other appetite she was talking about? The very thought of it made my cock jump needfully, and I shifted on the bench, trying to ease the pressure in my jeans.

Clearing my throat, I smiled. “Well then, order everything you want. It’s on me.”

Her eyes widened. “Are you sure?”

I nodded. “I promised to take care of you, and if that means feeding you everything you want, so be it.”

She licked her lips hungrily and stared at the menu, pointing her finger at several items as she mentally marked them off. Then her eyes lifted to mine, and I grinned at her. There was something not on that menu I wanted to feed her.

Something about Skye made me feel possessive and protective. I wanted to ensure she never had to worry or need anything again. I would ensure total satisfaction,if you know what I mean.

Before long, the waitress came over and asked what we wanted to order. Skye shot me a hesitant glance, and I nodded in reassurance. With that, she turned to the waitress and listed the items she wanted. With every successive plate, the waitress’s eyes got slowly wider.

Finally, she turned to me. “And for you?” she asked in a small, squeaky voice.

I shook my head. “I’m sure there’ll be leftovers. I’ll pick around.” The waitress nodded. “But I’ll take a coffee, thanks.”

She began to walk away and then paused, glancing back at me. By the look in her eyes, she was trying to place me. I got this a lot now the band was big. But I wasn’t the front guy, so I tickled the backs of their memories, but they never placed my face like they did Roman’s.

“So you think I’m going to share, do you?” She smirked, leaning forward on the table and propping her face in her hand. She looked adorable.

“I like a woman with a good appetite, but I don’t believe you’ll be able to pound back nine meals on your own for one second.”

She tipped her head back as she laughed, elongating her neck. My eyes drifted along to the plump curve of her lips. The way her eyelashes fluttered gently made me hard as a steel rod, and then she opened her eyes and locked them with mine.

“You’d be surprised what I could stuff in my mouth,” she retorted with a smirk.

My mind screamed to answer her with a witty quip. But then the rational part of my brain told me to shut the hell up. She didn’t need a man fifteen years her senior coming onto her, so I shrugged. “I guess I’ll see, won’t I?”
