"Still."

"I needed to buy that for you. That was my pleasure."

"I know it was. And you didn't want anything from me."

"No," I said.

"Exactly. That's why it's special to me. Plus, we had the whole God encounter that day. And, I just love how she plays. She's my number one."

"You played like six songs with it tonight—far more than any of the others."

"You counted?" he asked looking me over.

"I watched everything," I said.

"Sue did," he said.

"Oh, my gosh, Micah, let me—I forgot—let me go take a shower." I popped up and placed a kiss on his cheek. "I'll be right out."

I moved to the restroom where I took off my dress and got down to my slip and camisole. Then I took off the dark wig and placed it on the counter. The silicone pieces belonged to my friend, and I carefully took them off and placed them on the vanity.

I was in the middle of doing all of this when my thoughts returned to the girl named Zoey. I had so many thoughts swimming through my mind that it took a second for me to circle back around to her. I still had questions about her that I needed to clear up with Micah. I picked up my phone and called him.

"Hello?" he said, picking up on the first ring. "We're in the same hotel room."

"I know, but I was wondering about that girl Zoey," I said.

"What about her?"

"I don't know. Is there anything I should be… you know… did you kiss her? Should I be jealous? What does she look like? I'm not trying to beat her up the next time I see her, but I have brothers and I've seen a lot of kung fu movies, so I basically have a black belt by now. You tell that Zoey woman that I'm unpredictable and dangerous."

I said that whole last part in a Southern accent and Micah laughed.

I was smiling too. I glanced absentmindedly at my face in the mirror, which looked ridiculous. It was made up with different makeup than I would ever do, but there were also pink, freshly exposed spots where I had just peeled back the silicone pieces.

I knew I looked terrible, which is why I gasped when I heard a knock at the bathroom door. I grabbed a nearby towel and wrapped it around my chest even though I had on a tank top and slip bottom. I looked silly and I felt flustered, but I knew it was Micah at the door and I wasn't about to make him stand there. I opened it and he smiled at me.

"There she is," he said. "Don't hide your face."

"I'm sorry, I just didn't want you to—I have this stuff all over my face."

Micah took me into his arms, manually moving my hand away from my face. He kissed me and I kissed him back. "What was your question about that other woman?"

"Do you have any… did you kiss her… don't tell me if you kissed her. I really don't want to know. All I want to know is do I need to be jealous?"

"You know the answer to that, even before you ask it."

Micah kissed me over and over again.

He kissed my patchy imperfect skin like it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

"I do know," I said, smiling.

He was grinning as he pulled back. "Okay, just call if you have any more questions or need to know anything else," he said. "I'd be happy to come back in here and (kiss) answer all of your (kiss) questions."

My blood ran slow and warm in my body, and I pushed him out, taking a ragged breath like it pained me to do it.

"I was just making sure," I said.
