It would never get old—the act of kissing this man. I would never tire of it. I had no trouble with never loving another person. I was eager to never love anyone else. I kissed Alec back, letting my mouth stick to his. My body buzzed with attraction.

We broke the kiss and I shifted to sit up. He quickly moved sliding out from under me to sit up. "I'll take you to the beach," he said. "Then we're getting take-out from the diner on the way home."

"Carson's?" I asked.

"Yes. Does that sound okay to you, because I'm up for whatever."

"Carson's is great," I said.

"I'm going to ask you to marry me sometime soon," he said.

"Okay," I said, laughing a little.

"I'm asking you if I can ask you," he said.

"Y-yes," I said, feeling taken aback.

"Are you going to say 'yes'?"

"Yes," I said, slowly, smiling a little.

He grinned and shook his head at me as he stood up. "Oh, you're getting asked."

"Not in front of anyone," I said.

"Really?" he said. "You mean you don't want me to do it on stage?"

I let out a little laugh, shaking my head at him. "You must know by now that I don't," I said.

"Yep, I knew," he agreed, stretching gloriously. "You're different than most girls. You're the best one."

"I don't want it public at all," I said.

"What would you rather between doing it in front of family, or just the two of us."

"Family is fine, if it's what you want, but if it's strictly up to me, I'm a do-it-with-just-the-two-of-us girl."

"Are you going to be able to stitch me up if I ever get cut?" he asked.

"Sure, but don't try it out," I said.

"I won't, but it's cool to be able to do that as a mom. It makes me feel like I need to develop some kind of practical skill to be a good dad. Like blacksmithing or something."

That seemed random and caught me as funny, causing me to laugh. Alec liked making me laugh, and he kissed me because of it.

"Blacksmithing?" I said.

"Or mechanics or something. Maybe I need to learn how to build a motor."

"Build amotor?" I asked.

"I don't know. You can give stitches. I need to think of something useful to learn."

"Your music, Alec. Your voice, and your lyrics and songs. You're talented enough for all of us. You don't need to go looking for some new skills to learn. Your music is more than enough."
