He opened his door and climbed down, taking off past the front of the truck and toward the trailhead. Ours was the only vehicle in the small parking area, but I didn't let myself think of the logistics of guest parking. What in the world was going on?I tried not to panic, but goodness. I thought of Alec saying there was a dress in the basket, and I stared downward, wishing I had something on my feet besides Birkenstocks.

I was in the middle of reaching into the back seat for the basket when someone opened the driver's door. It was a spunky young woman with black hair and a few facial piercings.

"Hello, Grace. My name is Anne. Audrey sent me. I'm a hair and makeup stylist. Your husband-to-be said you wouldn't need or want makeup beyond what you had on when you got here. But girl-to-girl, Audrey went behind his back and sent me here to help a sister out. I hope you don't mind." She waved tentatively at me, and I waved back at her.

"I would really love your help," I said. "I'm Grace. I think my dress is in a basket in the backseat."

"Yes, okay, great, bride's identity checks out. I'll get the basket for you."

"Thank you."

"Yep. Just meet me behind the truck, we'll set up back there, and I'll get you all fixed up. Your mom's waiting with everyone else, and your dad will be here in just a minute to walk you out. No rush, but I'll get going on you as soon as you get back here."

"I'm ready, I’m coming," I said.
