Beau sang along silently with the lyrics…

Anything you want….

You got it.

Anything you need…

You got it.

Anything at alllll…allll…

Beau continued with theDo, do, do, do'sin his head even though she wasn't singing them. He was staring at the steps in front of him, wearing a dazed smile and following along with the music as he walked. He knew the song well, and he knew she would begin humming again any second.

He was expecting to hear the woman's voice when instead he suddenly heard her gasp and jump. He was nearly to the top step, and he paused in his tracks, hesitating as he made eye contact with her. "I didn't mean to scare you," he said with his hand out innocently.

"I just didn't hear you," she said, taking the headphones off. She took them off like she was expecting to talk to him, but then she just smiled and stared down shyly. "I'm just waiting on someone," she explained, somewhat nervously.

"I like that song," Beau said.

"What song?" she asked.

"The one you were singing, humming."

"Oh, yeah."

"Are you a singer?"

"No. I don't go to school here. I'm just waiting on a friend. I might have to go talk to one of the teachers."

"Oh, that's fine. Are you from the states?"

"Yeah, why? Are you?"

He pointed at her backpack, which had one patch on it—a Dutch flag. "I'm from here. But I saw the flag."

"You thought I was French?" she asked.

"That's not a French flag," he said.

"I know," she said. "I was just seeing if you knew."

"The French flag is vertical," he said.

Beau was comfortable with this encounter with a beautiful woman because he knew there was no romantic potential. She was gorgeous, and way, way, way too bold for him. He knew better than to think of her that way. This woman might even be too much for AJ to handle.

"What flag is it?" she asked, challenging him, smiling at him.

His heart raced. "The Netherlands. It's a Dutch flag."

"What, are you a scholar?"

"No, I play FIFA."

Beau hesitated near the door as he spoke, and he reached out for the handle.

"I have the patch because it's my name," she said.

"Your name is Netherland?"
