Beau.

Background.

He was in my…

My face fell and I stared blankly at Beau's face on the screen.

How was he onmysection of the screen?

I was out-of-sorts and confused.

Beau was…

I turned halfway in my chair when the thought dawned on me, and catching sight of someone behind me, I panicked, locked up, froze up.

Seeing someone in my room—seeing Beau in my room was so far from my mind that my body went into instant shock. I wish I could say that I was cool and calm, but instead, I stiffened out like someone had hit me with a taser. I flipped backward in my chair as I stiffened, my body jerking uncontrollably.

I fell over, and I heard clanging, but in all the movement and chaos I knew I had seen Beau's face. He was there—in the room with me.

He was with me.

"Beauuuu!" I said his name during the fall, which seemed to take too long. One moment, I was in a chair and the next, I was on the ground. "Noooo!" I added, half-seeing the computer mouse and keyboard clang to the floor as I landed.

Beau had tried to shield my fall, and I was pretty sure I had hit him in the process.

He was staring at me and…

"You're bleeding," I said.

I tried to sit up, but I had fallen to the floor with such a clatter that it was difficult.

"Wait."

"But you're bleeding," I repeated, seeing blood drip down his cheek.

"I'm fine," he said easily. "Are you? Are you okay?"

Again, I tried to sit up, looking toward the computer with wide eyes.

"It came unplugged," he said, like it was no big deal.

"You're bleeding. Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yes, Holland, it's nothing. Are you okay? Did you pass out?"

"I don't think so. You just scared me so bad that I… what is happening, Beau?" I patted his body, touching his arms as if I thought he was a figment of my imagination. "How are you here right now?"

I began moving, getting to my feet, and Beau helped me. "Slow down," he said.

"We have to see about your face," I said.

"It's nothing. It was just your watch when your arm came back."

"We have to get you some… Beau, what are you doing here?" I could not get past it. I went to him, looking at him, taking in his face. He was there with me. My knee and my shoulder were throbbing from the fall, but I was so confused and surprised that I didn't care about the pain. I stared at him, unable to believe it. "You're in Tokyo. I just saw you there."

Beau smiled at me. It was the sweetest smile I had ever seen. I was out-of-my-mind in love with this man. "I'm here," he said. "Surprise!" he added in quiet excitement. "I did not mean to get you so good."

I reached up and wiped at his cheek. There was a nick at the top, and I was careful to avoid it. "I'm so sorry I did that," I said. "What are we going to do about the meeting? What are you doing here? I just saw you in Tokyo."
